TX FLOODS! 20 kids missing from Christian camp!

Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

So ugly i won’t add here. Evidently in the name of politics .. in my view, it’s wanton evil.

one was a pediatrician, of all things. Dr. Christina Propst
Well, her social media post was cruel enough to get her fired, so perhaps she will learn from that and repent of the ugliness and evil.
yes. she’s not the only one.
i’m stunned to see otherwise normal-appearing, well educated, comfortable people behave so badly.
I must admit I was unsure about whether you thought she was cruel for posting what she did, or whether the clinic was cruel for firing her.

.. Cruelty aimed at victims and first responders? ..
Cruelty aimed directly at children and their parents.
Not admonishments to politicians in charge of oversight - of known disasters that repeat each year, wildfires+droughts.
Disasters where ample warnings were conveyed, with established mitigation methods, not to mention, HUGE BUDGETS to finance.

Newsom+Bass deserved what they got. And more. They’ve routinely done wrong.

CA’s ongoing wildfires+droughts do NOT compare with rural areas hit with sporadic disasters, with decades or more in between.

i’m all for PREVENTION measures. 100% “Texas should have” .. however ..

These examples of NC and Texas do NOT compare with CA. Incompetency+corruption, not regrettable human error.
HEAVY on corruption. $$$$

This is a prayer topic. For those who value of prayer.

i’m sorry you hesitated.
i’m 100% against the cruelty she posted. the clinic was correct. i’m glad they didn’t hesitate.
however, seeing the blowback she’s getting, along with losing the job she worked hard for, i have to recognize the problem of suicide, which i do not want. i’m doing my best to ignore all these things, i’m aware of what’s going on in a remote way.

i only looked it up because Ken disparaged my post. waste of time, he doesn’t stop.
i pray for him, too.

i pray for all, not just those i agree with or admire. i pray hard for those i fear are risking their very souls.
i believe that’s what Jesus wants.

This is what Christina Propst (who is not a public figure or politician) posted to social media and then deleted:
“May all visitors, children, non-MAGA voters and pets be safe and dry,”

“Kerr County MAGA voted to gut FEMA. They deny climate change. May they get what they voted for. Bless their hearts.”
This is what Trump posted to social media about the California wildfires a few months back. All of which, by the way is lies. And which he has left up: https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrum ... 4958051185
Governor Gavin Newscum refused to sign the water restoration declaration put before him that would have allowed millions of gallons of water, from excess rain and snow melt from the North, to flow daily into many parts of California, including the areas that are currently burning in a virtually apocalyptic way. He wanted to protect an essentially worthless fish called a smelt, by giving it less water (it didn’t work!), but didn’t care about the people of California. Now the ultimate price is being paid. I will demand that this incompetent governor allow beautiful, clean, fresh water to FLOW INTO CALIFORNIA! He is the blame for this. On top of it all, no water for fire hydrants, not firefighting planes. A true disaster!
This was right before Trump pointlessly dumped reservoir irrigation water in Central California to flood fields and rain into the ocean in a ridiculous political stunt. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/202 ... ater-trump

And Temp….

If we really want to do a comparison of Texas weather disaster planning and policies to California weather disaster planning and policies in the face of climate change it is Texas that will come up short, not California.

I'm not sure I'd agree. I don't think the current political climate of "fire someone the second they say something socially unacceptable" is really a particularly great thing.

i think her words, and her station in life, PEDIATRICIAN, more than qualify for the clinic’s decision. i hope so. that is, i hope she has no grounds to sue, be reinstated, etc.

I’m not the one here who is on an anonymous Internet forum pretending to be offended by what other random people have posted to anonymous Internet forums.

I’m just pointing out the hypocrisy of doing so.

I agree she should have been fired. She used her status as a pediatrician to denigrate instead of to heal.
I also agree some like to constantly lecture and tear down others about every thing nonstop. In my neighborhood we call that being a "know-it-all".
Back to the topic. The body of the last missing counselor has been found and her family can now have closure.
The second flood 5 or so days later impacted another girls' camp. Both floods took the lives of the two camp directors. Both died trying to save others.
This is now being called a 1000 year event, once in 1000 years. Officials are now contracting out for a reliable warning system.

i don’t owe you an explanation, i’m not anonymous.
you’re entitled to your opinions, i think it’s important to point out, not everyone’s buyin’ what you’re sellin”.
to help with BALANCE in the bubble you so love.

i’m flabbergasted that those who vote have actually chosen to attempt to bring back some balance.
as unraveling as that can be to the perfectly comfortable.

i did not expect this in my lifetime. sure, it’s disruptive. life is disruptive. it sure is.

I have made several very simple points here.

1. People say outrageous things all the time on the internet including after natural disasters. There is nothing particularly partisan leaning about it and to suggest this is more a trait of the left than the right is simply wrong.

2. We do (or used to) value freedom of speech in this country. But if we are now going to start firing people for their outrageous opinions on the internet then the place to start would be at the top. If you want to see some random pediatrician fired for an anonymous internet post but don’t want to see Trump impeached and removed for much more egregious slander in the face of a similar natural disaster in California then that is hypocrisy.

3. There is nothing whatsoever improper with exploring what went wrong in any disaster that lead to loss of life. It is what we should do. We think nothing of doing so when the NTSA takes a microscope to plane crash wreckage to determine what went wrong and how such disasters can be prevented in the future. And the fact that the families of the pilot and crew or passengers might find that offensive or uncomfortable does not enter into the decision-making process. It is simply what we do in order to learn from our mistakes and do better next time. Figuring out what went wrong and what wrong decisions might have been made in the face of a flood is no different. In fact, we owe it to the victims to do so.
