And they call on the Supreme Court to reverse its 2015 ruling.
Thanks for bringing this up. I've been following the news from their annual meeting.

And add, it would be good if they would move forward with addressing the Guidepost reform calls for their own sexual abuse/perversions problem. (Paul Pressler, Paige Patterson, David Sills, Johnny Hunt, etc etc). There wasn't any mention of Jennifer Lyell at the convention...or word of any progress on their data base.

Paul and Paige, ironically, were the god-fathers of the conservative resurgence and are now disgraced. Paul himself acting out with homosexual abuse patterns while leading the effort. Unsurprisingly, the folks on the other side of this issue have a hard time...
I agree and I think they have a lot of house-cleaning to do. It's another reason why I'm glad we belong to a small, unattached Free Will Baptist church. I feel that the larger the organization, the harder it is to monitor for accountability among the leadership. Of course there are exceptions to that observation but generally speaking it's a problem.
The denominations that bother me are the ones who instead of addressing abuse in their ranks instead say that homosexual activities are okay. Child sex is okay, etc. therefore there's no abuse going on. It's vile. If a denomination comes out and says it's against it, then at least they're publicly declaring the behaviors as wrong. Hopefully they'll follow up that public statement with a thorough house cleaning of their ranks who are committing these acts.

Small, unattached churches are just a prone to having scandals.

It's interesting that a group of churches make a strong stance against a certain form of immorality.

The same group of churches also exiled former leader who did not take a strong stance against another form of immorality, albeit a much more mild one.

Certain people on MN bark and crow about how grievous it is a former leader (who is now exiled) made inappropriate comments, so how dare they take a stance against obvious immorality like homosexual behaviour?

And then certain people bring up a person in an entirely different denomination who abused his position to engage in aggravated adultery as part of the "how dare this other denomination make a statement that homosexual acts are wrong!"

It belies what their actual morality is.

Nothing gets voters energized more than a battle. I'm convinced that abortion was used primarily as a wedge issue to inspire voters to a fighting mentality and inspire more voter turnout... on BOTH sides of the aisle. I grew up hearing about it as an existential crisis among conservatives. Now I am hearing about it as an existential crisis from progressives. It's just fear-based political conflict.
I think transgender ideology has replaced abortion as the next existential crisis to struggle over. Abortion no longer commands the voting block it once did, that is why it was so easy for the Republicans to edge away from it.

From my point of view this is not necessarily good or bad, it might make more interventions possible. Once people stop fighting they can often find ways to work together.
I've noticed progressives and liberals embracing fearmongering over abortion bans. I admit the conservatives have kind of dropped it as a wedge issue.

The transgender thing I don't see as much outside the progressive camp on the left. I see it a lot on the conservative side.

The Bible is very easy to understand. But we Christians are a bunch of scheming swindlers. We pretend to be unable to understand it because we know very well that the minute we understand we are obliged to act accordingly.
