A wee little man can’t say, I’m sorry. A big man owns his mistakes and apologizes.
A wee little man trusts himself and his own discernment. A big man is humble enough to know that he needs the counsel and input of others.

Are they all done cleaning up their own house now? Or is this intended to be a distraction from their own sex scandals?
If the Supreme Court did reverse its 2015 ruling, that would just throw things back to the states like the Dobbs ruling. And turn things back to ugly state-by-state political battles, but mostly in red states. Pretty much every blue state has already legalized same sex marriage and that isn't going anywhere. I'm skeptical that Republicans really want to take on that battle again in a bunch of red states. But maybe I'm wrong.

I affirm that.
And add, it would be good if they would move forward with addressing the Guidepost reform calls for their own sexual abuse/perversions problem. (Paul Pressler, Paige Patterson, David Sills, Johnny Hunt, etc etc). There wasn't any mention of Jennifer Lyell at the convention...or word of any progress on their data base.
Paul and Paige, ironically, were the god-fathers of the conservative resurgence and are now disgraced. Paul himself acting out with homosexual abuse patterns while leading the effort. Unsurprisingly, the folks on the other side of this issue have a hard time...

The Bible warns that wolves would enter in churches. Sex scandals they do not endorse as acceptable. So they will continue to have to clean up the wolves that creep in as they have seemingly all churches.Ken wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 12:23 pmThis seems more like politics than general theology.Ernie wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 11:58 am Southern Baptists Affirm Ban on Gay Marriage at their annual meeting.

The wolves (Pressler and Patterson) started the conservative resurgence. For some, that calls into question the integrity of the conference as a whole. What kind of religion is it that permits Paige Patterson, also a founder of the SBC conservative resurgence, to openly in church opine on his lust of a child? These comments weren't even really seen as questionable until other things surfaced.Valerie wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 1:19 pmThe Bible warns that wolves would enter in churches. I guess it's my Anabaptist roots showing but I think they could have affirmed the former and omitted the call to de- legalize same sex marriage. I don't mind them advocating for it independently but to do it as church policy tingles the nerve against merging church and state and the memory of the Christianity which claimed the authority to rule the state in the 16th century and burned Anabaptists at the stake as a service to Jesus.

Oh, okay, so joshuabgood edited 16-year-old to "child". I agree it's not good for anyone to lust in their heart after someone else, but that particular edit seems handcrafted to be overly sensational. The allegation is that:ohio jones wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 5:36 pmPresumably this:JohnH wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 3:59 pmWhat on earth are you talking about?joshuabgood wrote: ↑Wed Jun 11, 2025 1:35 pmWhat kind of religion is it that permits Paige Patterson, also a founder of the SBC conservative resurgence, to openly in church opine on his lust of a child?

This is a ridiculous level of pearl-clutching. Are we supposed to pretend that teenage boys don't flirt with teenage girls, or that doing so is somehow wrong?Jonathan Merritt, the journalist who brought everyone’s attention to The Baptist Blogger’s audio, also notes that saying despicable things isn’t a one-time problem for Patterson. Just check out this sermon he gave in 2014, around the 21:15 mark. He tells a story of two teenage boys who were hitting on an underage girl… something he jokingly defended as biblical:
