Neo-Anabaptist is what I would call folks like Followers of the Way and Sattler College.

Am I off base there?

I recently heard a Sattler prof describe the college as "Anabaptist oriented." I think "Anabaptist adjacent" would fit as well.

I would agree with the description of Boyd as an archetype of the Neo-Anabaptist (as distinguished from Neo-evangelical Anabaptist).

ADC is a "liberal" split off of Beachys, specifically over the issue of the radio (they're for it). They would fit the description of acculturating conservative Anabaptists, sometimes also called fundamental-conservative or progressive-conservative Anabaptists.

In any case, they aren't neo-evangelical Anabaptists - at least not yet.

Just in time for radio to go obsolete and get replaced by streaming.

Some new cars don't even have radios anymore, just car-play and phone integration. And AM radio is being purged https://wapo.st/4leM8iD

I'm always slightly amused when conservatives are fighting the last generation's battles. Like colored cars and chrome bumpers. Or mustaches.

And it will always be amusing to those who are not part of such groups, and to those who do not value what brought these folks to where they are - which enables them to offer what they have to offer.

A wee little man can’t say, I’m sorry. A big man owns his mistakes and apologizes.
A wee little man trusts himself and his own discernment. A big man is humble enough to know that he needs the counsel and input of others.

I agree with Ernie, the inner motivations are where it's at, not the details being legislated. At the same time I can see Ken's point. It seems ideal to respond to current issues, not things two or three generations old. If the archaic issues are being used as a proxy, then make a case for it up front.

ADC's actual real reason for a division had zero to do with the radio. It just so happens that the congregations that decided to constitute ADC and exit affiliation from the Beachys tolerated members listening to the radio in cars, etc.

So it is a useful metric for a dividing line. For example, the shared mutual aid plan only covers people whose church membership mandates not using the radio, and now that mutual aid plan doesn't have to bother with ADC people anymore (although last I heard they are "grandfathered in").
