That’s not “genocide”. Putin just wants Ukraine to be in a federal union with the rest of the states, much how like Dagestan exists. The fact Dagestan is part of the Russian Federation doesn’t mean there’s been a genocide of Caucasians.

Putin is trying to do much more than that. He has declared that Ukraine doesn't actually exist and is systematically trying to eliminate Ukrainian language and culture from every corner of Ukraine that he currently occupies. He has engaged in "ethnic cleansing" in the parts of Ukraine that he occupies and that is tantamount to genocide. Read the definition. You don't need to believe me. The UN Commission on Human Rights and other independent organizations have came to the same conclusion. For example: https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/blogs/u ... n-ukraine/

The situation is discouraging beyond description.

From the little i’ve read, every time Putin has moved in the direction of ceasefire, Z has criticized and taunted him in his signature arrogance. including military aggression. i now see the two men as mirror images of one another. hate-filled twins.

and i wonder what role the left-west has played and is playing in it.

i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

If memory serves, this is the same intuitive reasoning that scoffed at Trump’s second term, predicting it would be nothing more than a temporary lame duck presidency, amounting to nill. “nothing to see here.”

I think the phrase "genocide" is thrown around too often. That being said, I am less concerned with what Putin wants than the absolutely bloody way he is going about trying to achieve it.

Putin has been bombing Ukrainian cities and killing civilians for 3 years.

Do you think if he started using chemical weapons on Ukrainian cities they would suddenly decide to surrender?

Morality is dictated by the biggest stick.

If you decry an enemy claiming how they are threatening a nuclear power plant and then attack the enemy’s power plant, you have lost that point of moral superiority.

Supporters on both sides now say justification for equal retaliation, and/or more.

“We get a lot of [vulgar word] thrown at us by Putin, if you want to know the truth. He's very nice to us all the time, but it turns out to be meaningless.” –President Trump, to reporters on 7/8/25

Most of the rest of the informed world knew this about Putin long ago, especially Ukraine. It's nice a consensus is developing.

You don't need to go far to find support for Putin. Check out the first several pages of this thread, he has his sympathizers.

I'm seeing signs of impending collapse in Ukraine. Desertion and AWOL rates are climbing rapidly this year.

I suspect this has much to do with the "increased" aid of patriot launchers. I'd expect to see either serious investment, boots on the ground or some way to distance from the collapse in the next year. I'm not saying Ukraine is suddenly going to fall over, but this is a serious sign of the end without a major change in EU/US investments.
