I'd still like to learn about this if anyone has knowledge.

Does Rosedale take any different position on divorce and remarriage than what LMC does?

Does Rosedale take any different position on LGBTQ than what LMC does?

I’m not sure if I can point to any differences in position. Rosedale shifted away from the Old Mennonite church in the 1990s, but LMC joined MC USA despite being concerned about affirming congregations. So there is perhaps a bit more willingness in LMC to work with affirming Christians. I know of an LMC congregation where people are divided or undecided on same sex marriage but decided not to take a position either way. That’s not common but I think this kind of thing is more common in LMC than Rosedale.

I am not really aware of any differences on those issues.

The difficulty is also that what the "talking heads" of organizations are speaking to and angling for do not always reflect the voices on the ground. Rosedale for example, with regard to leadership and teaching, recently, is very strongly Anabaptist, though in the pews there has been a good amount of Christian nationalist influence.

LMC is a little bit behind I think with regard to Anabaptist perspective in leadership and teaching, though there are voices pushing that direction, (there are significant voices influenced by more charismatic avenues/seven mountain thinking). And once again, in the pews there is pretty strong Christian nationalism in some sections.

I am surprised to hear this. 7 Mountain thinking is still around?

It is observation that Anabaptists adopt foreign theology to fill an immediate need. In your judgement, what need is driving the openess to this strange fire which on the surface seems antithetical to basic tenants of Anabaptism.

I haven't gone back to look through all of the categories that different folks have created, but this topic makes me wonder if any of those lists include "Neo-Anabaptists".

I haven't given a great deal of attention to these lists, because I have never had any interactions with most of the groups commonly mentioned, I cannot really relate what is being said to any real experience. (My exposure to the Swiss Brethren is confined to Old & New Order Amish, a bit of Dan church, Tobe, & Swartzentrubber Amis, and of course the Beachy Amish-Mennonite.)

What I mean by 'Neo-Anabaptist' - basically revitalization movements that focus on one belief or doctrine of the early anabaptists, making what was sometimes originally a sort of minor belief that was dependent on a 'more important one' that the revitalizationists then pass over.

Maybe I should't be posting this question, because I have very little time to devote to it. So if no one has used the term, just let it ride.

Neto, I've heard the term used for Charity before, but probably fifteen or more years ago. I'm not really in that orbit now so I don't know if it is still used at all or not. Maybe the Agape network churches still use it. (Harmony Christian Fellowship Myerstown PA, and Faith Christian Fellowship Dundee OH, for example. From a distance, my perception is that these are the spiritual successors of the Charity movement. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6896&p=234488) I'm also not saying the term was used widely, but I remember hearing it and am sure I used it at times.

I thought Neo-Anabaptist was a term to describe Greg Boyd et al.
