I would like a thread to discuss events in Canada with the following rules:
1. Only Canadians are invited to offer opinions.
2. Others are free to ask questions - friendly questions, questions of clarification, questions about how they feel.
3. Canadians are free to provide links to things that represent their views. The rest of us ... nope.
The goal is to listen in on Canadians as they describe themselves to us. I will ask moderators to move posts that violate this somewhere else. Including my own posts, if I goof up.
Canada - as seen by Canadians
Canada - as seen by Canadians

1. Are we discussing the topic? Good.
2. Are we going around and around in a fight? Let's stop doing that.
3. Is there some serious wrongdoing or relational injury? Let's address that, probably not in public and certainly not for show.

Re: Canada - as seen by Canadians
A few questions:
1. How do you all feel about the recent election?
2. How are the feelings of Canadians toward the USA changing?
3. In general, how is the atmosphere in Canada different than it was a year ago?
4. What is it that people in the United States don't understand about Canadians?

Answers to question 1 will be moved to Politics of course, so anyone commenting on that subject should start a thread there.

A quick question for Bootstrap... what is your definition of "Canadian"?

Re: Canada - as seen by Canadians
A Canadian is a person who is a citizen of Canada, either by birth or through naturalization. For this thread, legal residents of Canada also count as Canadians.

In Canada, I believe. Oh wait, I should let the Canadians answer questions here ...

Re: Canada - as seen by Canadians
OK, so just to be clear:
- Undocumented migrants to Canada don't count.
- Someone with legal status to live in Canada who is currently outside of Canada doesn't count either.
Do I have that right?

Re: Canada - as seen by Canadians
Are you asking if I think you count as a Canadian? If so, let's discuss in DM. If you are not Canadian, no need to worry about it. If anyone else has questions, they should also feel free to DM me. But please, let's not clutter up the thread with this.

Re: Canada - as seen by Canadians
Not necessary at all. I just thought it would be good to clarify exactly who you want participating in this thread, particularly in a Mennonite context where "Canadian" can be a quite flexible term (and when the modern concept of "who is a Canadian" has also become a rather large tent).
