I’ll be finished with the cabinet painting today. The 7 relatives start descending on us Friday-two older aunts with their sons and daughters and one grandchild. Time to take that ham I smoked out of the freezer and let it thaw in the fridge.

Cabinets done! PTL for keeping my back pain under control. Uppers took a lot more sanding because my wife wanted them white. The lowers are in navy blue.

If there’s any bleeding through on the white I’ll deal with it after the relatives are gone and the tile man is finished. I’m hoping the sanding, two coats of primer and the two coats of cabinet paint will prevent that. Some of those old wood stains from decades ago would outlast a nuclear blast-At least it feels like they would.

The relatives are all talking at each other and over each other and I don't think I'll get a word in edgewise until Monday morning. Be seeing Yall next week.

The house is quiet again. The relatives went home with sore jaws from all that talking and chewing.

The backsplash tile is done. My wife chose subway tile in white. There's been no bleed through on the white paint so it looks like the primer is doing it's job. My wife has gone all blue and white in the kitchen. It looks nice and since she's happy I'm happy. Her Mother's Day and birthday present is complete.
Now I have to get a new weed whacker because ours died. Whatever happened to small engine repairmen? I think I'll buy one of those battery powered kind this time. They're lighter and cheaper.

We have a ton of small engine repairmen around here. Just look for the sign by the side of the road…

We are in desperate need of them around here. It took probably 6 months for one shop to get a very minor repair done on my generator. It is really nuts how difficult it is to get someone to do any work on small engines, appliances, the trades, etc around here.

music makes me cry.

i have often cried in church, message and music. i tried not to! i hid it as much as possible. sometimes so hard to do.
i once (apologetically confessed) this to a burly older man, an astute, possibly uncompromising businessman in our church.
he surprised me when he didn’t hesitate to softly say, “that’s ok. i do, too.”

he passed many years ago. that’s close to all i remember of him. it’s enough.

This morning, Vivaldi. Winter.
The music is stunning, i didn’t know any of the history (until i read in the link).
When i listen now, i can’t hold the tears .. my grdaughter plays cello. She played this with her (public school orchestra) ..
i was there for their performance. (i didn’t cry there.) i was stunned. i cry now. for the gift of the memory.

They played it in 2022, i viewed on zoom. P2+3: viewtopic.php?t=71&start=10

Description:
Wait... A priest wrote THIS?
You’ve definitely heard The Four Seasons, but did you know it was composed by a Catholic priest?

Antonio Vivaldi, aka The Red-Haired Priest, wasn’t just wearing a cassock — he was teaching music to orphaned girls and writing some of the most iconic pieces in history.

His music doesn’t just sound divine… it is.
Nature. Storms. Beauty. God’s creation, captured in sound.
Faith and art have always been one.
Did her orchestra teacher know the history?
