However, I tend to view Sunday services being designed for more than just worshipping and glorifying God. These verses come to mind.justme wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 9:40 am Because as i understand it, sunday morning worship service is to worship and glorify God.
So it is not advised to hijack an event specifically organized for one purpose. I mean, we already do that on mn threads, its no wonder folks think it would be ok to do it in real life too.Ephesians 4:11-14 NKJV 11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--Christ-- 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
At the least, we can conclude that politics is not a gift of the Holy Spirit, does not equip and edify the saints, and does not produce unity or maturity. So I am with justme in understanding that it's not appropriate in a church service (Sunday or otherwise).GaryK wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 3:55 pmSince it is conspicuously absent, should our conclusion be that it should also be absent from our weekly lives, not just our Sunday lives?ohio jones wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 2:03 pm Yes, but "some political pundits" is conspicuously absent from the list.
There are other things that are not appropriate in a church service but are not wrong in themselves and can legitimately be done in other times and places without sacrificing integrity. Some facets of political discussion and "calling out" of politicians might fall into this category.
