Seriously. You really don’t understand. I suppose he won the swing states by voters that were bigots eh?
Did all the lies about Haitians eating cats and dogs and all the other bigoted blather by Trump just go down the memory hole? Bigotry was the centerpiece of his campaign.
German Balogna . He did not make that up you know. I thought the bigot accusation was retired by the amount of supporters he has from all walks of life and colors.
I'm not arguing that people didn't eat it up. Clearly millions did. It won him the election. But he arguably ran the most bigoted campaign in modern American history.

Even if true, the incident was a teeny matter in perspective of the overall. i wouldn’t respond to it. Pure gotcha nonsense.

i’m perfectly comfortable with an older, wiser, more docile Trump.

I have not followed this topic, but the worst that ever happened to us entering Brazil was the first time, when we entered with a 1 year visa. We had complete documentation for everything we brought with us, with all of the embossed approvals, etc. (We had done all of this in person through the Brazilian Embassy in Washington DC.) The entry point (Belem) took everything away from us except one suitcase of clothing. They held the rest for (as I recall) around 6 weeks. Our impression was that the in-country officials resented those who work in the US. But they DID eventually give it all back, although some things were damaged because they did not repack things as we had them. We never had any more issues in all of the times we went through the federal check-in procedures. It was usually very time consuming, but the workers were always friendly and pleasant. Another possible reason is that Brazil had only very recently gone from military control to elected government, and so there were very likely many changes in procedures.

Do you recall the year?
o.gosh. when our son decided to go to Brazil to visit a friend, i was shocked at how unprepared he was.
in his early 20’s, no guilty conscience, he just didn’t know. o.gosh.

thankfully, he let us know weeks ahead, there was time for him to read+prepare. a lot to learn.
after he returned, he admitted he was astonished at how different everything was. his friend+family took care of him.
he said it was the best food he’d ever had! (what?!!) ok. i can deal with it.

Does that explain why he did better with minorities including Hispanic men, black men, and women than any Republican in recent history?

By better you mean he still lost those demographics by large margins. But in any event, Hispanics can be appealed to with bigotry too. And most Hispanic voters are by definition, not immigrants.

Ken,

Do you think Trump lost Hispanic men by “big margins”?

What do immigrants have to do with anything? They aren’t supposed to be voting. They have their own countries to vote in, if they want to vote.

What do immigrants have to do with anything? Trump's campaign was the most anti-immigrant campaign in at least a century and that appealed to many Hispanic voters who are mostly not immigrants. Many of whom view recent immigrants with suspicion.

Hispanics can also be racist too as anyone who has spent time living in Latin America will know. Or in Texas for that matter. And Hispanic men can certainly be machismo. So it isn't surprising to me that a woman of Black/Indian ancestry would struggle to attract the support of Hispanic men. Trump's appeals aside, you probably couldn't design a candidate less likely to appeal to Hispanic men than Kamala Harris. And that would have been the case regardless of who she was running against.

Is there something wrong with that?

Presidents do not need to campaign based on what recent immigrants think. Recent immigrants have no say in how the country is run. They are guests who can stay at the pleasure of their host.

Ken, I'm simply responding to what you said:

I pointed out that minorities (which includes Hispanics) moved, as a whole, entirely TOWARDS Trump. There is no demographic.. except one.. that moved away from Trump relative to the 2020 or 2016 election.

The one demographic that moved towards Trump was... unmarried women with college degrees.

Immigrants, by definition, involve international travel. Get back on subject.
