Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

No particular year because vaccines for different diseases came out at different times. But since this thread is about measles, how about we look at just measles? Of course the 2000 declaration that measles was eliminated was obviously premature and didn't account for the modern anti-vax movement.
Why do we need vaccinated for a disease that has been “eliminated?

Let’s go back to your picture.

Mass vaccination started around 1960. All these terrible childhood diseases had already dramatically declined by then.

Modern medicine is more than just vaccines. But vaccines also didn't start around 1960.

Here is a December 25, 1942 story from the NYT about a smallpox outbreak among the Amish that caused the Belleville area to be quarantined until they could be vaccinated. My mother lived through it. The story notes that vaccines were mandatory at that time (1942) for school children but that the Amish slipped through the cracks because their kids didn't attend public schools. Here is the original story on the NYT web site (on page 12): https://timesmachine.nytimes.com/timesm ... issue.html

Most people actually DO CARE about their children's health and get them vaccinated. You are in the minority here.

Then they can go get vaccines.

Public acceptance of vaccines has plummeted. What I’m not interested in is people like you forcing my family to get vaccinated with tissue from murdered babies.

People also believe in UFOs and astrology.

I'm not forcing you do to anything. If you want your kids to get measles or polio, go for it. But don't invent fake reasons to justify your decision. The measles vaccine has been around long before stem cell research if that is what you are objecting to.

Mainly because they haven't lived thru experiencing the disease and how it can affect your life.
Polio and measles especially can cause many problems. My husband's aunt ended up deaf because of measles and never heard the voices of her youngest 2 children. Many people ended up with severe disabilities from polio and they were the lucky ones.

Many. here on this forum have never experienced what it is like to live thru an epidemic of these diseases that were eradicated until many decided they didn't want the vaccine.
Yes you can choose not to get the vaccine but don't. just write it off as nothing.

The actual data in Ken’s chart shows otherwise. I prefer science to emotion.

Which childhood disease do you want to look at for a before and after picture of the effect of vaccines? Measles? Pertussis, Rubella? Smallpox? Diptheria? Polio? Take your pick.

It’s your chart! It shows a sharp decrease before vaccines were introduced.
