In point of fact, all they did is open one emergency lane in each direction. If you watch the video it is clear that the interstate is far from rebuilt much less rebuilt 3x faster and cheaper. They aren't remotely finished and have only just begun. There is a massive slide zone that they will either need to re-route a long distance around or rebuild with a massive amount of new infrastructure.

So this Matt Van Swol guy is just flat out lying in his tweets. I get that there are lots of MAGA cheerleaders out there. But the constantly lying about easily checked facts isn't really a good look and pretty much destroys credibility.

I guess they don't expect people to actually click through and check out the links and evidence. Which is probably a safe assumption. That is how propaganda works.

He is also sharing (or generating) a whole lot of misinformation.

As for being a "lifelong Democrat?" Voting records are public in North Carolina. In the past 10 years it appears he has only voted once and that was in the November 2024 election in which he was registered as "unaffiliated" and not Democrat or Republican. There is no record of him ever being registered as a Democrat or voting in any Democratic primary.

Well...

As promised, the I-40 highway that was shut down for 5 months between Western North Carolina and Tennessee will re-open ON TIME TOMORROW.

Looks to me (I only looked at the tweet and video, I haven't researched anything else) that the "As promised..." is referring to the fact that the highway was closed, and is now reopened "on time". The on time does not refer to "fully or permanently rebuilt or repaired". Just reopened.

President Trump's DOT Secretary, Sean Duffy, was able to secure a method to rebuild it, "3x faster and cheaper."

I understand this to mean that a contract has been awarded or engineering has been done on a plan to rebuild it permanently in a manner that is "3x faster and cheaper". Not that the work has already been done, merely that a "method has been secured". Will it be also 3x less quality, as justme seemed to ask? That isn't addressed in the cheerleading tweet.
