I was helping out another teacher teach geometry today. Well, actually a class called "Construction Geometry" for which the kids get both math credit and CTE credit. Pretty impressive. I took a few pictures. I saw kids who would normally not be able to sit still in a regular classroom who were completely locked in and engaged for a 1.5 hour block period. The other teacher was a construction contractor for years before getting into teaching. The assignment for each team was building 4x4 model houses. Grading is rigorous, this is the grading rubric. If they don't score at least a 3 on every element they have to tear it down and do it again until they get it right before moving on to the next stage which is building trusses and putting on rafters and the roof.

Hey. I object. We always accepted 1/4" tolerance in rough construction. Of course that was a massive home, so scale may matter, but still!!
So you would have gotten a grade of "fair" in this class

Love to see this kind of thing happening!
Hey, I’m pretty sure you guys aren’t allowed to say stuff like that in here. Any discussion of public schools must include complaints about how libs and leftists are ruining education these days. It’s got to be in the user agreement somewhere. . .
