Are there any legitimate work-from-home jobs?

Post by GoodGirl »

I do have a small business, where I sell things. Not books, by the way!

But I’m looking for something for something I could do by the hour for someone else, to make some money to help out.

I have a very mature teenage daughter who would love a job like this too. (Just one. We won’t talk about the other teens here right now. :? )

Does such a thing exist?

I used to know a lady that did medical coding from home, but I’m hoping there are other opportunities too.

Find a Mennonite shed builder that has a website. Offer to take the internet sales calls. Sell sheds for them for a commission.

This is timely, I desire to work from home too. Was just wondering how people find jobs like that. My daughter works from home for Hyatt training people via zoom I think. So many can work from home these days.

They have for years. I know one of their employees who lives in New Mexico and works remotely.

That place is still named that? I figured Trump would have named it New America by now.

There are lots of legitimate work-from-home jobs but they tend to be no different in terms of duties and qualifications than most in-person jobs.

For example, my daughter has spent the past 2 years working remotely for a social media advertising firm out of Los Angeles. She earned very close to a 6 figure salary with health and retirement benefits and worked out of a home office in a different state. Basically she supervised about 10 other account managers and "content creators" who manage the social media profiles of dozens of companies from fitness chains to fast food restaurants.

But like most media and public relations jobs it is highly competitive. Everyone she worked with has college degrees in marketing or communications and big portfolios of work. And they probably put in 50+ hours/week of work. She pretty much burned out from the demands of the job and has just this month moved on to an in-house social media advertising job with a growing company that is also remote but that requires that she fly to the home office a couple times a month.

It is just as demanding and full-time as any in-person corporate position. Maybe more so.

Ah, perhaps it didn’t apply to new hires or female new hires.
