Notice from last night about this fire nearest me:
“Firefighters have secured 40% containment on the 590-acre #OchocoFire located east of Hwy 97 & Culver. Due to the quick & coordinated response by interagency resources, there were no impacts to the power lines near the fire area.”
Maybe the power lines are why they were so quick.

I wouldn’t leave my house up to fire fighters to save in a wildfire. They are unmotivated, have poor leadership, have zero stomach for any risk at all, are stretched too thin, have different priorities.
No, if you want your house saved, you best plan ahead, have green defensible space, and then stay there and put out the embers. It isn’t walls of flames that get a house, it’s the embers staring new, small fires. The firefighters will be nowhere around.

I live in southern california. A device like that that draws out of a swimming pool would be fantastic, as long as there didn't need to be humans running it. So maybe they could tweak things a little bit to make it run efficiently on its own or via cell phone? I just know in certain areas the wind was so crazy that despite having a source of water, it was just too dangerous for even firefighters to be in certain areas. One of the fatalities that I guess they just discovered today was a man charred with a hose, staying behind trying to save his house, so I could not see that widespread personal firefighting via pool would be encouraged, but some type of non-human needed device would be great.
I have thought that going forward the people very skilled and tech and engineering can really push some better ideas forward, because we need them to continue to live here. There are so many great resources here, but we do have our natural disasters and I don't think our top leadership is thinking very proactively on the ground level as to what citizen should do, as well as larger City planning and water maintenance and etc. Thanks for sharing the video!

There are heavy rains in California at times and if cisterns could be installed in every neighborhood, heavy rain water could be collected rather than sent to the ocean or causing mud slides. It could be a great resource if automatic outdoor app controlled sprinkler systems could be installed. And yes, it would require a bit of redundancy in case one or two emergency systems didn't fire up. But if they were are drawing from the same cistern and all using the same pipes, it is not a deal breaker if one system fails.
On the other hand, with wildfires, you often have a bit more time to get the system working (4-12 hours) as compared with a house fire that may only give you a few minutes or seconds to get something working.
But we've all heard the story about the monkeys and their need for shelter in the rain forest. During the day when it was sun shining, they wanted to play rather than build a rain shelter.

A wee little man can’t say, I’m sorry. A big man owns his mistakes and apologizes.
A wee little man trusts himself and his own discernment. A big man is humble enough to know that he needs the counsel and input of others.

Just a little humor for a very sad situation.

I heard a Pastor talking about how 48 hours prior to the fires starting, in Hollywood Golden Globe Awards, God was being mocked on stage.

The CTs are saying it's a "directed energy weapon".
It sounds to me like they need to get rid of Newson and bring back ARNOLD!
