Didn’t we just have an election in which the winning candidate argued we had to make borders more secure, including the one with Canada? Isn’t the incoming administration threatening a 25% tariff on Canadian goods?Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 4:07 amNot to mention all of Scandinavia. Just eliminate border control between US and Canada.ohio jones wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 12:51 amThere's enough holdouts (Switzerland, UK, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, etc.) that the Euro isn't even a common currency for the entire continent.
I don't think we could have a common currency for North America; how would Mexico pay for the wall?

Trump is not a diamond. He is not “forever.” He may not even last until the next election.Szdfan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 11:23 amDidn’t we just have an election in which the winning candidate argued we had to make borders more secure, including the one with Canada? According to what I read here on MN, Trump has a mandate to change everything and to beat back all that liberal nonsense like open borders.Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 11:57 amTrump is not a diamond. A common passport free area is not open borders. It gives these privileges to the citizens and legal residents only. The rest can and should be deported.Szdfan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 1:26 pmAccording to what I read here on MN, Trump has a mandate to change everything and to beat back all that liberal nonsense like open borders.Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 11:57 amTrump is not a diamond. Open borders is what we have had for the past four years.

We’re supposed to have a common passport area in the 5 Central American republics but it rarely seems to function as such.Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 8:40 pmA common passport free area is not open borders. Re: Meanwhile, in Canada
We essentially had that before 9-11. I traveled back and forth to Canada with nothing but a driver’s license and was seldom asked even for that. We essentially had a passport free area. 9-11 paranoia changed that.HondurasKeiser wrote: ↑Sun Dec 29, 2024 3:39 amWe’re supposed to have a common passport area in the 5 Central American republics but it rarely seems to function as such.Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Sat Dec 28, 2024 8:40 pmA common passport free area is not open borders.
