I don't think we could have a common currency for North America; how would Mexico pay for the wall?

Because I don’t think there’s any chance of it happening. O’Leary’s just some guy with a massive ego but doesn’t represent the Canadian government and Trump is threatening 25% tariffs against them. This is a not serious grab for attention.R7ehr wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 1:59 amIf a common currency is good for Europe, why would it not be good for US and Canada, eh?Szdfan wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 1:53 amI have it on fervent authority that the EU is going to lead to the Antichrist.ohio jones wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 12:51 am

Not to mention all of Scandinavia. I think a Scjhlingrin type system would be an easier sell. I traveled from Poland to Switzerland, than to Oslo without being asked for a passport, except for checking into hotels. Just eliminate border control between US and Canada.ohio jones wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 12:51 amThere's enough holdouts (Switzerland, UK, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, etc.) that the Euro isn't even a common currency for the entire continent.

Of course he is, but it doesn't mean he is wrong.
I do not see it happening, but it is quite a funny thing. I posted it not because I thought it would every happen, but because I thought it was quite humorous.
It will never happen because Canadians would never be willing to change their spelling or get rid of the metric system.

Re: Meanwhile, in Canada
Don’t the Canadians use a combination of the metric and imperial systems like in the UK? Also, metric is better. What kind of dumb measurement system uses fractions?

The right kind. How am I supposed to know what 100ml or 39cm even looks like?

Oh, I agree. I think it is totally stupid for the US to be on the Empirical system instead of metric. Metric can have fractions. 1/2 a meter.

Re: Meanwhile, in Canada
The entire metric system is based on fractions, where the denominator is a power of 10.

We need an American measurement system all of our own. Distance is measured in rifle shots, football fields, F-150’s, and apple pies, dollar bills. Anything smaller just doesn’t count or matter, this is Murica!ohio jones wrote: ↑Fri Dec 27, 2024 10:46 amThe entire metric system is based on fractions, where the denominator is a power of 10.
