It is a photo op and like most photo ops, it was staged. The McDonalds was shut down for most of the day and the people who drove up through the drive-thru were preselected. So it’s not like it was happening to random people.

It’s fine. It’s the virtual memeified version of kissing babies.

Of course it was staged. Every person who interacted with him had to be vetted, even the "costumers."

I just thought it was quite funny to see him in an apron waving out of a McDonald's window. If you did not think it was funny, just move on. The thread name is "I" think it is funny. I also posted him in a section of monkey shots. I guess that was missed. Its okay. I think it is all funny.

In my defense, it was a sincere question. I wasn't really getting the joke and I read on FB how hilarious Trump is and like I said, I'm just a liberal fuddy duddy.

Which is going to go down as one of the dumbest stunts in political history because these photos and videos are circulating like wildfire on Spanish language social media as proof that Trump thinks they are all garbage. It is an election. What you or I think means nothing. We aren't voters in swing states. What matters in terms of swinging votes is what kinds of narratives circulate among swing voters and undecided types. And what the current narrative in Hispanic social media is the following:

1. For the past year Trump has doubled down on calling immigrants garbage, vermin, criminals, eaters of pets, etc. If you want examples of this narrative there are hundreds of them. I trust you can find them for yourselves. There are endless examples of Trump calling both immigrants garbage and Democrats garbage.

2. At Trump's big closing celebration in Madison Square Garden, one of his invited speakers calls Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage. Which, because of all of Trump's previous statements about Hispanic immigrants, Puerto Ricans immediately interpret as being about THEM PERSONALLY, and not some statement about litter on the beaches or some such. These comments go viral.

3. A day or two later, Trump rolls out in a MAGA garbage truck dressed like a garbage man and those images get picked up and paired with Trump's previous comments about immigrants and the Madison Square Garden quotes to re-circulate on Hispanic social media. And draws new attention to Trump's previous comments. Very much an own-goal for Trump. How many TikTok videos do you think have been made of Trump in a garbage truck with his words about Hispanics being garbage or Puerto being garbage overlaid on top?

As for Biden's comments? They aren't getting any traction and no one cares because everyone knows Biden stutters and has jumbled syntax and was really talking about the Trump "supporter's" comments [i.e. the comedian] not Trump "supporters" generally as is clear from the transcript. Punctuation makes a difference. One can't say the same about Trump because his endless litany of comments about immigrants have been relentless and unambiguous.
