Re: Sunday school lesson
I told them once if they'd rather talk about girls or something that interests them, they're supposed to let me know!ohio jones wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 9:40 pmWhat, you don't relish talking to that age group about girdles?![]()

Re: Sunday school lesson
Last Sunday I left church with excitement knowing I would not be teaching Leviticus this coming Sunday.
Yesterday my countenance fell when I received a text requesting me to fill in this coming Sunday due to last minute plans.
Why me Lord???

Is it any wonder the teachers fail to inspire enthusiasm among their class?

Have you used CLE’s material? It has its benefits. It also can be challenging at times to prepare for a class with the scripture selections CLE manages to copy and paste together.ken_sylvania wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 10:26 am Is it any wonder the teachers fail to inspire enthusiasm among their class?

Re: Sunday school lesson
I haven't. My history has been with either R&S quarterlies or "Bible Studies" where the class takes like a couple years to work through Proverbs a few verses at a time, or maybe a half a year to work through the book of Philemon, etc. Each teacher being responsible to choose how many verses to take each week and what points to highlight. Of course, once a precedent of only taking 5-10 verses each week is set, nobody wants to break the mold and say "let's look at the next 2-1/2 chapters as a whole this week" - so each teacher takes a third of the class period reviewing what was looked at the previous period and giving his own thoughts about that previous section (thoughts that may or may not have been shared the previous time), and the rest of the time looking at the current selection (Greek word definitions, all the different shades of meaning suggested by the Greek word that this or that word is derived from, half a dozen other Scripture selections that say about the same thing as this, why it has various shades of meaning different from what the English translation says, what traditions and practices it is referring to, etc., etc.) until everyone is bored out of their minds.seinetsodumm wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 6:11 pmHave you used CLE’s material? I agree it can be difficult to mesh gears with a pre-studied lesson, and that can be a challenge to teach, but I'm under no illusion that tossing the booklet will magically liven up the class.

Re: Sunday school lesson
I'm assuming the Sunday School study booklets (quarterlies) by CLP (Christian Light Publications) is what they are referring to.
