SpaceX’s cellular Starlink service delivered "hundreds of thousands" of text messages to help hurricane victims, according to T-Mobile's CEO.

"During the hurricanes, we were able to test with a temporary authorization and saw hundreds of thousands of successfully completed text messages to people that otherwise wouldn’t have seen them,” Mike Sievert said in an earnings call on Wednesday.

Sievert made the comment while discussing Starlink's direct-to-cell satellite service. Earlier this month, SpaceX received temporary clearance from the FCC to use its orbiting satellites to beam emergency alerts to residents of areas hit by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. In addition, SpaceX received emergency authority to offer satellite-based SMS text messaging to T-Mobile customers in the hurricane-affected zones.
Seems Elon's statements about direct to cell is happening.
Do you think all of Musk's accomplishments would have happened if he had been deported as an illegal alien? Should he have been deported? Why or why not?
Elon Musk and his brother Kimbal were speaking to a crowd of business leaders in 2013 about creating their first company when the conversation seemed to go off script. Originally from South Africa, Kimbal said the brothers lacked lawful immigration status when they began the business in the U.S.

“In fact, when they did fund us, they realized that we were illegal immigrants,” Kimbal said.
Under Trump’s proposed immigration changes, he could still be deported. Because committing immigration fraud is grounds for having naturalized citizenship revoked and getting deported.

Musk's voter registration lottery is probably illegal and he'll probably get away with it.

https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2 ... rry-litman
Elon Musk’s voter registration lottery scheme is too cute by half and probably illegal. It also illustrates why violations of election law often go unpunished.

Musk announced last weekend that he would award $1 million a day until the election to a randomly selected registered Pennsylvania voter who signs a petition professing support for the 1st and 2nd Amendments. He has already bestowed the first few checks and expanded the sweepstakes to signers from the other key electoral battlegrounds, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin and North Carolina.
Federal law makes it a felony to pay anyone to register to vote, codifying the bedrock principle that people should exercise the franchise based on their free will rather than the purchasing power of a candidate or interest group. The law arose partly because of organized efforts to pay eligible voters to register.

Elon Musk's grandfather was born in the US and his mother was eligible to be an American and Canadian citizen too, although she didn't apply for American citizenship for a long time.

Mass Hysteria? - new topic? - - Refresh Sam Harris? (link below)

i’m not sure, but i suspect, from what’s taking place on this intended-to-be Christian forum of late,
there’s a form of MASS HYSTERIA happening; MN isn’t immune. :-|

“What Is Mass Hysteria (Mass Psychosis)?”
https://www.verywellmind.com/understand ... nk-2671595
At a Glance
Mass hysteria events have occurred throughout history,
but they still happen today and are hard to control and even harder to prevent.

Mass hysteria (mass psychosis) is a social phenomenon where a group of people develop similar symptoms that do not have an identifiable physical cause (such as an illness). Instead, the symptoms stem from psychological causes. In mass hysteria events, the symptoms occur in two or more people who also share a common belief about what might cause the illness.1

This article will go over what mass hysteria is, what causes it, and examples of mass hysteria. ..
Does Social Media Create Mass Hysteria?
Social media may play a role in perpetuating mass hysteria today.
For example, there have been cases of young people developing tic disorders after seeing videos of people with tics on TikTok. However, more research is needed to understand how social media may contribute to mass hysteria.14

TDS / Mass hysteria .. the (neuroses) seem to be increasing, not fading.

I haven't seen any discussion here yet about Musk's connections with Russia. It doesn't sound good to me. Many places cover the story. Here's one:
Musk has been in secret contact with Putin since 2022, says bombshell new report
The Russian president even asked the billionaire for a Starlink favor.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has been in regular contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin since late 2022, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.

According to the Journal's intelligence sources, Musk and Putin continued to have talks into this year, even as Musk began to ramp up his criticism of U.S. military support for Ukraine and became actively involved in the election campaign of Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump.

Not Schadenfreude. Musk isn't suffering from misfortune. He behaves badly. He breaks the law. He gets away with it because he's obscenely rich and powerful and doesn't have to follow the same rules that the rest of us have to.

We are not crazy or suffering from mass hysteria because we are critical of people you like, Temp. Disagreement with you doesn't mean that we're crazy.

I am unaware of laws he has broken, but if he has, he should be held to the same standards as other illegal immigrants.

I'm not sure whether he was an illegal immigrant, but rather that he abused his J-1 student visa and was working illegally when he was a student. Musk has joked in the past that he was an "illegal immigrant," but I think it's more complicated than that. He claims that his J-1 visa migrated to an H1B visa, which provides temporary work permission, but it's not clear how that transition happened after he dropped out of Stanford.

A lot of this is moot, though, because Musk became a US citizen a decade ago. The issues are the double-standards and hypocrisy. Musk condemns illegal immigrants, but his own immigration journey is murky and shady.

Looks like "GOP Operatives" are very busy setting up Musk to take the blame if Trump loses.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-e ... rcna176255
'All hell has broken loose': Inside Elon Musk's high-stakes pro-Trump door-knocking effort
More than a half-dozen operatives and canvassers connected to America PAC described an inordinate number of suspect entries and having to canvass during Hurricane Helene.

Nine Republican operatives and canvassers connected to the Elon Musk-backed America PAC told NBC News that they’re worried the high-profile grassroots operation on behalf of Donald Trump’s presidential bid may hamper his chances in states decided by slim margins.

America PAC has been tasked with much of the pro-Trump canvassing operation as his campaign focuses its efforts on a more limited effort targeting so-called low-propensity voters. In turn, the Musk-backed organization is going door to door in all of the major swing states to help turn out Trump supporters and have them fill out surveys about their voting intentions.

But the people who spoke to NBC News, many of whom have years of experience in GOP field operations, said the operation may not be the well-oiled machine many in the party might hope it is, especially considering how much money is behind the effort.

In particular, they raised concerns about canvassers’ submitting an inordinate amount of suspect data. That data, some of which NBC News has reviewed, includes entries submitted far from the home or while canvassers are logged into Wi-Fi networks — telltale signs that a door was not knocked on, sources said. In addition, a video explaining how to “spoof” one’s location while submitting data drew attention in Nevada and Arizona, raising further concerns.

“I know it’s been flagged for America PAC that this has been transpiring,” an operative formerly on the effort said.

As some of that data spilled into public view last month, an operative close to the effort said: “All hell has broken loose” inside the PAC.
