Twitter was actively suppressing information that was factual and would have affected the election of 2020. X is allowing free speech and is not suppressing information that is helpful to Harris. Just because Musk and Trump are friends does not mean X is suppressing information.

Re: Elon Musk. Twitter. Babylon Bee.
X under Musk is doing the EXACT SAME THING that he criticized Twitter for in 2020.Robert wrote: ↑Fri Oct 11, 2024 10:25 pmTwitter was actively suppressing information that was factual and would have affected the election of 2020. X is allowing free speech and is not suppressing information that is helpful to Harris. Just because Musk and Trump are friends does not mean X is suppressing information.
The issue in 2020 was that Twitter took down links to the NY Daily News article about the uncorroborated hacked contents of Hunter Biden’s hard drive. And they only did it for a day or two before restoring the article.
This past month under identical circumstance, X not only took down reporting about hacked internal opposition research on JD Vance, they did so permanently, and they also canceled the account of the reporter who had posted the information. And this was all done at the explicit request of the Trump Campaign. That is partly what the NYT article is about and they explain the circumstances in great detail.
The two instances are completely comparable. And X under Elon Musk is behaving in exactly the same way that they criticized Twitter for doing in 2020. They are coordinating with a political campaign to suppress information. There is absolutely no difference.
From the NYT article:
"The relationship has proved significant in other ways. After a reporter’s publication of hacked Trump campaign information last month, the campaign connected with X to prevent the circulation of links to the material on the platform, according to two people with knowledge of the events. X eventually blocked links to the material and suspended the reporter’s account."

^^Read earlier in this topic, and others. The problems were discussed.Robert:
Twitter was actively suppressing information that was factual and would have affected the election of 2020.
X is allowing free speech and is not suppressing information that is helpful to Harris.
Just because Musk and Trump are friends does not mean X is suppressing information.
and this:
“NYT endorses Harris as ‘the only choice’ for president”
“The editorial board has not backed a Republican for president since Dwight Eisenhower in 1956.”

It would be super-cool if msm would be returned to journalists rather than propagandists.
Esp the NYT. But, all of them. i know i’d love to respect the NYT.
Of course, education would need to do likewise, education provides the hires. Direct pipeline.
Journalists versus propagandists.
All things considered - -
it’s mind-boggling conservatives exist on any level.

There's a long history of newspaper editorial boards endorsing political candidates. The NYT has been doing it since 1852.temporal1 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 10:09 am “NYT endorses Harris as ‘the only choice’ for president”

That's not the same as coordinating with a campaign like Musk is accused of doing.

Re: Elon Musk. Twitter. Babylon Bee.
I think there are arguments against newspapers endorsing candidates. The Wall Street Journal hasn't endorsed a presidential candidate since 1928. But an editorial board endorsing a candidate is not the same thing as a media source coordinating with a political campaign which stories are pushed and which aren't. It's not closely related. It's a false moral equivalency being made to justify and defend Musk's questionable behavior.temporal1 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 3:04 pmsorry. i realize things must be spelled out. so often, even that’s not sufficient.Szdfan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 1:02 pmThere's a long history of newspaper editorial boards endorsing political candidates. i disagree with your last sentence, i find it related in a tribal way, and, i find “the magnificent package” it’s become outrageous.Szdfan wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2024 3:51 pm

“we the people” allowed it, big mistake. it’s way bigger than Musk. for instance:

This topic began YEARS before Musk was on (my) radar, before this topic began.
The earlier topic, and some others, reflect DEEP DISDAIN for lib biased msm - long before this topic.
My view of Musk hasn’t much changed ..
i always saw him as an eccentric guy, a sort of loose cannon, a big risk taker, a fatalist, an optimist.
i’ve since learned he’s autistic, socially quite awkward, with a typically low-key, odd sense of humor, which he seems to enjoy about as much as any of his big projects. i believe this is unusual in billionaires. there’s freedom in not being overly in love with money.
i think “the fact that” authentic fact checkers were found to be checking The Babylon Bee’s satire reflects a deep divide between dedicated lack of sense of humor .. versus .. normal understanding.
for instance, Trump’s proposal he would have Musk audit the entire government.
these are not dummies. and they employ humor. even fantastical humor. which can be useful.
