Obviously it was a small type of bee. (I have always felt self-conscious about having a really small nose, compared to my family, who tend to have nose more on the Extra-Large size. I could also make use of a larger one, since I've worn glasses since I was 6....)

OK. I'll go back to my corner now.
your family’s probably jealous of your nose!

i urge you to call.
i’ve had great experience with Urgent Care nurses over the phone, avoiding visits!

once, i was sure i would have to go in for a badly sprained ankle. nope.
the nurse, i can’t remember their titles now, but they know what they’re doing, asked me “50 questions” over the phone, no facetime or anything, she determined it was not a broken bone, gave me great instructions for self-care, that was it.

months later, i dislocated a toe at home, in the country, late Saturday night, ditto.
i didn’t have to drive into town. i straightened it and wrapped it up myself.

no charge for the calls.

i’ve had occasional dental problems. dentists are adamant about being cautious - “the mouth is so close to the brain.”
it’s worth a phone call.

We always have much better experiences with NPs then DRs.

It’s really dependent on how well trained they are… if they have oversight or are independent.

I’ve seen NP’s that don’t have great experience operating independently as primary care… 90% of what they run across is easy to manage. The key is knowing when to pass them to more skilled providers.

I’ve also seen really incompetent doctors…

There is a simple fact that I could get the training as an NP pretty quickly without enough clinical hours to really justify independent practice in some states.
I certainly can’t afford it…
It’s a debate currently going on and we have examples on both sides. We don’t have enough doctors to provide enough care, basically we need NPs and PA’s to fill in or reduce the quality of doctors and speed up training.

Soloist, NP is a master’s degree type of program - you could prob. afford it (at least a state university).

I would have to get my RN, then my bachelors, and the program’s generally want to see a few years working ward nursing before you apply. It also depends on the program, some are masters and some are doctorate.

Secondly, the RN programs that are receptive to LPN’s are few and far between… they all accept them, it’s just complicated. Generally LPN’s are the bottom of their accept list, they take continuing students first, second, A list returning students. Basically people that washed out for non academic reasons. Secondly, at least at the college I was at, they took B list which were fail out for non clinical related problems like grades. The bottom of the barrel was LPN’s.
After you get in, you still have to pay the bills and nursing programs are anything but accommodating for work schedule… I work home health and my schedule is fixed a little over a month ahead and if you are picky about patients, such as no women/girls… you have less flexibility. Next family at least 40% of the time by my experience, don’t want a male nurse.
Clinical assignments have no flexibility and you either take what is given or you are out. My program in Oregon gave us assignments 2 weeks ahead. At that time I was working on call for a small facility and they generally knew my availability but would call me if they needed a nurse short notice.
The RN to bachelor programs are easy to complete and get into so that aspect is no challenge. They all work with schedules and are pretty flexible.

All this to say… I can’t afford it as I wouldn’t be able to reliably work enough to support my 5 children and wife.

i was hoping for more discussion on NPs and various medical careers. ^^there it is. :D
the range of education requirements and OJT experience is amazing.

in my experience, many in all corners of medicine started in the military.
my eye surgeon graduated from West Point! i find this true in lab techs, all through.

when there’s time, i often ask my caregivers about what led them into their work.

Today, I spent the afternoon in a Trump Train in Tyler Texas.

My 16 year old connected with the guy organizing the Trump Trains here in Palestine. The few people involved has been a real positive influence for him. I did not want him driving to Tyler by himself and joining the larger group in Tyler, Tx. So I decided to ride along with him in support of him, not Trump.

It was a real fun and positive day. I really don't see the benefit of the trains/convoys. I doubt it will change any minds, but it does allow some to express their support in a positive way.

Other than the fact it's *cough* *cough* not a real train and that there is currently a lawsuit in which a Trump Train during the 2020 election confronted and boxed in a Biden-Harris campaign bus, I don't think there's anything wrong with it either. It's an okay way to express someone's views unless people do something stupid.
