Head covering question

Post by gracefortoday »

What are people's opinions on whether the traditional cap style covering in Anabaptist circles sufficiently covers the head? I'd like to do this without argument so just be respectful of others. Thanks.

I've seen caps that do and caps that do not.

Your personal conviction.

My opinion is that covering part is acceptable to God.
I don’t know what directly was intended but I’m extremely skeptical that a see through cap is what God intended but my wife and I try not to judge others for size or type.

There are umbrellas that protect you from a rainstorm and umbrellas that do not. And then there are umbrellas that partially protect you from a rainstorm. Since the Bible does not give explicit directives, I'd say go for one that errs on the side of being bigger than necessary rather than too small. It is subjective, I realize.

Some do, some do not. Some specify a 2" band, I believe Southeastern and Mid Atlantic do, my wife thinks so, but I might be wrong. Ours do not, although those who do wear them, my wife included, are to that sort of pattern. Keystone does not have a specification, but specify it need be sufficient to express the notion of headship. Here is one that has a more detailed specification:

So does your wife wear a sombrero?
The lady that does “sing the KJV” has one covering all her hair without exception. Does your wife follow the logic to the extent?

Head covering has symbolism. If the symbol is clear, the purpose is served.

You can flip that as well, if the purpose is not served it becomes a symbol of a symbol.

My wife does not cover all of her head nor all of her hair. But no one needs to guess whether she is intending to veil her glory.
FWIW, the lady who "sings the KJV" no longer has that practice and now practices head-covering in a manner similar to my wife.
