I agree. And I would add that if you see nothing grossly and recognizably sinful about Paris putting on a drag show for the whole world, your faith is weak indeed too.
I didn't watch it when it was happening. But seeing the subsequent coverage it looks to be in poor taste and frankly amateur hour and not what I would expect from a prime time opening ceremony extravaganza. I wouldn't expect Paris to be able to match the precision automatronics of the Chinese. But I would expect them to do better than fat drag queens for an athletic celebration. It looked like bad drag and if they are going to do drag they should at least do a better job of it.

But I frankly care about as much about drag as I do tattoos. Which is not much. Even though I personally disapprove of both. My faith is about looking for the good I can do in the world, not about looking for things to take offense at. Because frankly that is an endless, tiresome, and pointless way to spend one's life. And I don't like going around getting angry at every single thing I see.

I guess that's why you take offense at so many things that get posted on Mennonet?

I disagree with things. But I don't take offense by them or take them personally. There is a big difference.

For a period of time paganism was disfavored in Europe and the Americas with "respectable" people at least paying lip service to Christianity or humanism. This Olympic display is a jarring reminder that the arc of history is once again bending toward an embrace of hedonism, paganism, and the rejection of all that is Godly.
Agreed. i don’t recall any confusion about the Olympics being a Christian endeavor at any time in history.

Even 100 years ago when i was in public schools, we learned about the Olympics in context of ancient Greece, Before Christ. :)
In high school i studied art history (now a college level course) .. i’m not completely ignorant of history. We had more languages, including Latin, and more arts. i don’t believe today’s public school students always receive comparable exposure.

In those years, no one foresaw education standards would decline, while costs would dramatically increase.

i don’t believe those leading protests of this carnal display of gluttony and lusts were uneducated backwoods hicks -
(altho, even these poor souls could readily recognize the wrong promoted as “good, clean, French fun.”)

Oh, I dunno. The symptoms you display are identical to those that you describe as "outrage" and "taking offense" when you observe them in others. So apparently there isn't much difference.

Let me give you an example of the difference. There is a whole outrage factory on the left same as on the right. An example is police shootings. Every time one occurs it fires up to protest "police brutality" outrage regardless of the actual circumstances and in most cases police shootings are justified. Because we really do have armed criminals on the streets and they really do shoot at the police. Yet the same folks are always trying to manufacture outrage on the left online and in real life with the "defund the police" stuff and "all cops are b***ards and so forth. I find it just as tiresome as the folks who find offense to Christianity under ever rock. Are there actual real examples of police brutality and illegal police shootings? Yes. They are rare but still happen. And we can improve law enforcement with better training and some changes of emphasis. Likewise, are there actual real threats to Christianity in the real world? Yes. But just like with the police it is more issues with governance and things like sex abuse scandals, unaccountable corruption in the church, politization of the church and other much bigger problems than fat drag queens in Paris.

Mass stabbing in the UK of children.

The perpetrator is a 17 year old asylum seeker who arrived via boat last year. (You will be hard-pressed to find that information in mainstream news, but the good thing is that Twitter / X doesn't censor this kind of information, so it is easy to find there.) These are the "children" and "immigrants" who are "fleeing persecution" we keep hearing about. I am very much in favour of helping migrants and anyone else who needs help and is fleeing persecution, but I don't think someone who decides to go to a daycare centre and stab a bunch of children is someone that the UK or America should be eagerly waving into the country.

It also appears that the UK's regime of "knife control" is not working. Many in America tell us we need "gun control". But it appears that the phenomenon of mass murder is not something that can be "controlled" by limiting access to hunting rifles, kitchen knives, butter knives, sledgehammers, etc.

Instead a change is sorely needed in men's hearts. And in the meantime, perhaps it would be good to control who is coming into countries and restrict the inflow of those with criminal, murderous backgrounds.

Why Dionysus On A Plate At A Drag Last Supper Is The Most Jesus Thing Ever

Stupidity.

However this point really piqued my thinking. Will discuss in a different thread.
We should remember first of all that the Last Supper is inherently transgressive. Although it’s become so familiar to us that we’ve mostly stopped thinking about it, it’s genuinely bizarre that at the center of Christian practice is our consumption of the flesh and blood of our Savior. I believe there are a lot of really solid theological reasons why such transgression is itself essential and spiritually rich, but we should not blame the French for simply highlighting the transgressive nature of the meal by… transgressing.

Took me all of 30 seconds to discover that the reason the authorities are withholding the name and identity of the suspect is because he is under 18 and that is what they are required to do under British law. It has nothing to do with the suspects immigration status.

According to the NYT, the British authorities also stated that the supposed name and identity of the suspect that was circulating on social media was not correct.
