recent technology crash

Post by Neto »

My siblings were all back home last weekend, and one of my brothers had flown in from the Pacific NorthWest. Every Delta flight in the world was grounded, and so his flight was cancelled. The computer at the hotel where he was couldn't use their computer systems. After additional delays, a couple of flights later, he ended up almost 200 miles from home, and his wife drove out there to pick him up, and they're now on the way back home.

With technology such a central part of so many different functions of normal life now-a-days, why isn't there redundancy built into these systems? Seems like a serious weakness to me.

Because half the world got convinced that they have to buy cloud-based services from CrowdStrike, and CrowdStrike apparently thinks it's OK to push out an update on a Friday that didn't pass normal QA or go through the proper CI/CD build process.
