He may not be singing acoustic CCM ballads, but He's Alive.

I really loved his song Adam Where Are You.

Imagine my shock to find out he and his wife seem to be universalists now.

If actions speak louder than words than perhaps most of us are more universalists than we think we are.

I realise you think most of us rarely share the gospel*, but some of us make it our life mission to do so. The fact that we aren't sharing Sudsy's gospel doesn't mean we aren't sharing Jesus' gospel. And the fact we aren't doing it the exact way you think we should doesn't meant we aren't doing it.

* Please correct me if I am wrong and you don't hold this opinion.

Yes, you are correct that I think most of us rarely share the Gospel. And the Gospel I am talking about is the one that Paul wrote about as the Gospel that saves us. This Gospel also produces results where men and women are born again and become new creations. And as Jesus said unless a person is born again they cannot see the kingdom of God. You must be born again.

So what kind of results are we getting from the Gospel we are sharing. Is it the Gospel (good news) that Jesus died for our sins, rose again and repenting of our sins Jesus will save us from the eternal death penalty of our sins and will come to live in us in the person of the Holy Spirit and also will give us eternal life with Him when we die ? This Gospel results in Christ following. Although this following will not reach perfection in this life, it is a life of relationship with God. If we are sharing another gospel than this, then what is it and what kind of results is that gospel getting ?

I think some are sharing a gospel that is more on things other than this. More of a gospel that is not a gift but one of earning one's salvation. That gospel will not save us.

My understanding of universalists that believe in hell believe the punishment there is corrective and remedial, and does not last forever. Eventually all who desire to be saved will be saved. I have an easier time with this belief than the Calvinist belief that God has chosen some for eternal damnation who will be tortured forever and ever for His glory.

So I could be a universalist and only share the Gospel so that people won't take the painful way to heaven. Or a Calvinist and share the Gospel because I am required to and don't know who will be saved because God has already determined who He will and who He will not save. Or as an Armenian share with everyone because I believe anyone who I share it with could repent and be saved. Or as a believer, not share the Gospel for all kinds of reasons, one being the eternal destination of others doesn't concern me enough to participate in evangelism.

I don't know who on this forum actually is sharing the Gospel that I believe is the Gospel of the New Testament and if they are sharing that Gospel of a conversion of the heart than share with us who is listening and becoming new believers. Recently I have nothing to share on who is becoming a Christian through my efforts and the Gospel I believe in but I could in the past. In that area, I need revival.

The Gospel I described is the one I heard preached in my experience in the Mennonite Brethren church, Pentecostalism and now in the Salvation Army. This Gospel we call the Gospel of Jesus Christ preached by Jesus, Peter, Paul and others.

Sorry, got rambling on. Personally, I could adopt a universalist belief before a Calvinist belief regarding salvation.

I just checked, and most of my gospel actually says a lot of things other than that.

Are you sure you didn't accidentally open your Bible to Romans instead?

I am not sure what you chose to believe is the Gospel that saves us but I shared the basic Gospel that I am relying on for my salvation as I gave my quick overview. The Book of Romans contains the Gospel my family is trusting in for our salvation and the verse sometimes called 'The Romans Road' is the Gospel we preach. This Gospel is found in other NT books as well.

What is the content you believe is the Gospel that saves us ?

When I read the good news, I read things like Matthew 5, 6, & 7, which talk about what following Jesus is like. The gospel you have described above lacks any element at all of actually following Jesus.
