At that time, they recorded the total number of different races of people in each country. It had the total number of Jews in Germany for each year, as well as the Jews in Poland, France, and all of the other countries that were to be occupied by Nazi Germany after these Atlases were created. It gave me the numbers I needed to understand who was telling the truth about 6 million Jews dying in the Holocaust. And it was an unimpeachable source, as it was published by a non-biased source before the Holocaust controversy occurred.
Here's a theme in your posts - "who was telling the truth". Do you believe that Holocaust Deniers tell some outrageously false lies in order to get people worked up against Jews and governments? I have seen some of them say things like "there weren't 6 million Jews in Germany, so they are lying to us". But most of these deaths were not German Jews. And it doesn't take much research to find out where the victims came from.
Population statistics vary somewhat by source, but they are largely uncontroversial. I would assume that the numbers in a Gazetteer would be pretty similar to the numbers published in sources like these:

The Anne Frank house has a map that shows this kind of breakdown by country:
According to USHHM, the Jewish population inside Germany was only 237,723, and 165,200 German Jews were killed, about 65% of the population. Most of the Jews who were killed came from other places. 2,770,000-3,000,000 came from Poland. 1,340,000 came from the Soviet Union. These tables show the other places they came from.
Yad Vashem has PDFs that list the names of most of these victims by country. For instance, here is the USSR:
