A storm passed through last night, widespread power outage.
As i sat in the dark waiting for daylight, close to daylight, this old song floated in my memory.

Beautiful lyrics.

Cat Stevens / Morning Has Broken - Cat Stevens - Lyric Video / 3:15min

Lyric Video for "Morning Has Broken" sung by Cat Stevens. (1971)
A Christian hymn first published in 1931. Written by English author Eleanor Farjeon

LYRICS:

Morning has broken
Like the first morning,
Blackbird has spoken
Like the first bird.
Praise for the singing!
Praise for the morning!
Praise for them, springing
Fresh from the Word!

Sweet the rain’s new fall
Sunlit from Heaven,
Like the first dewfall
On the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness
Of the wet garden,
Sprung in completeness
Where his feet pass.

Mine is the sunlight,
Mine is the morning,
Born of the one light
Eden saw play.
Praise with elation,
Praise every morning,
God’s re-creation
Of the new day!

We had a friend that could play the piano (to this and everything) - by ear. Could not read music. Memories!
Beautiful singing voice, too. Gifts from God.

1969 / Harry Nilsson - I Guess the Lord Must Be in New York City (Audio)

I Guess the Lord Must Be in New York City
Song by Harry Nilsson

I'll say goodbye to all my sorrow
And by tomorrow I'll be on my way
I guess the Lord must be in New York City
I'm so tired of gettin' nowhere
Seein' my prayers goin' unanswered
I guess the Lord must be in New York City

Well, here I am, Lord, knockin' at your back door
Ain't it wonderful to be
Where I've always wanted to be?
For the first time I'll breathe free, here in New York City

Say goodbye to all my sorrow
And by tomorrow I'll be on my way
I guess the Lord must be in New York City
So tired of gettin' nowhere
Seein' my prayers goin' unanswered
I guess the Lord must be in New York City

Well, here I am, Lord, knockin' at your back door
Ain't it wonderful to be
Where I've always wanted to be?
For the first time I'll breathe free, here in New York City
Oh-ohh
Oh-oh, oh-oh

AEROSMITH

Dream On
Song by Aerosmith

Every time that I look in the mirror
All these lines on my face getting clearer
The past is gone
It went by like dusk to dawn
Isn't that the way?
Everybody's got their dues in life to pay, yeah
I know nobody knows
Where it comes and where it goes
I know it's everybody's sin
You got to lose to know how to win
Half my life's in books' written pages
Lived and learned from fools and from sages
You know it's true
All the things come back to you

Sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter and sing for the tear
Sing with me if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away
Yeah, sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter and sing for the tear
Sing with me if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away

Dream on, dream on, dream on
Dream until your dreams come true
Dream on, dream on, dream on
Dream until your dreams come true
Dream on, dream on, dream on
Dream on, dream on, dream on
Dream on, ah
Sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter and sing for the tear
Sing with me if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away
Sing with me, sing for the year
Sing for the laughter and sing for the tear
Sing with me if it's just for today
Maybe tomorrow the good Lord will take you away
