At least he admitted he was lying. That is more than what the mainstream media and many politicians do.

Re: Alex Jones...
It seems a long-long time ago now.
i recall discussions on MD about (esp Anabaptists) going that long extra mile in “loving enemies”.
Some posts struck me as extraordinary. (Some might remember Klayton?) i believe he was in college in Wisconsin.
He wasn’t alone. i wonder if his views have changed?
(i imagine) these believers would have reached out to Mr Jones with Christian grace.
Not to enable him. To disarm him. To convert him.

i never-ever followed Alex Jones. i glimpsed his name occasionally. (that was more than enough.)
i’m aware there are those who craft their lives around bringing lawsuits. the big cases get airtime, often go to the USSC.
i’m not for going after mom+pop bakeries, photographers, innkeepers. it has happened. human law is a profitable business.
billionaires? what do scriptures say?

Re: Alex Jones...
From an Anabaptist perspective, I would also tell Jones to embrace truth, even when costly.
He might be surprised at how good the results are.

Re: Alex Jones...
Grace,
Ken needs to provide proof for his statement that Jones admitted he was lying.
Jones apologized to the Sandy Hook families for any pain he may have caused them. That is not the same thing as admitting you were lying.
And the "lie" was to ask questions about how the media represented the families, by having people stand in front of a green screen. So Jones never lied about the families, he asked embarrassing questions about the dinosaur media that covered the event. It appeared that their interviews were staged.
The dinosaur media is telling people like Ken their version of reality, and these people actually believe that their dinosaur media would not lie to them.
The way to get the truth is to listen to the source, in this case, Alex Jones.
I am not going to debate anyone about Alex Jones that has never listened to Alex Jones, as all they can provide are the liberal media's talking points.
You can't learn the truth about someone only from their enemies. You have to go to the source.
Alex Jones is anti-war and has never encouraged violence, so that is a another lie from the liberal media that he told his followers to harass the Sandy Hook families.
The other lie is that Alex Jones lost in court. The truth is, Alex never got a trial. He was given a default judgement for not providing records that did not exist, which meant he was already guilty before he went to trial - "by default." The judge instructed Alex that he and his lawyers would be held in contempt if they said Alex was innocent, or tried to provide proof of innocence. The only acceptable verdict the judge allowed was how much money for the "pain and suffering" that Alex caused these families. The answer was 1.5 BILLION dollars. That is insane.
The Sandy Hook shootings occurred in 2012 - 12 years ago. Why did they wait 11-12 years to bring up this lawsuit? If these families were "in pain", then the lawsuit would have been immediate. And Alex Jones quit talking about Sandy Hook at least 10 years ago.
So why now?
Jones has always provided information about how the Elite run our country, like how they fabricated 9-11, or stole the 2020 election.
Here is why they sued Jones in 2023 for Sandy Hook that happened in 2012:
Jones was the first news reporter to show that COVID came from a lab in China. He has interviewed on his show the people that work in the lab in Wuhan. Jones proved the gain of function research was funded by the NIH. This information has gotten Rand Paul and others to investigate Tony Fauci on the Senate floor.
Jones has also uncovered that the spike protein in the COVID shots is causing myocarditis and has killed or injured up to 30 million people so far. He has interviewed on his show the person that originally developed the mRNA technology and told why mRNA is deadly.
As a result, the Attorney General of the State of Kansas is now suing Pfizer for the injuries they have caused:
https://ag.ks.gov/media-center/news-rel ... id-vaccine
The AG of Texas, Ken Paxton, is doing the same. All because Jones is leaking this information.
A LOT of very powerful people listen to Alex Jones. People in military intelligence, people in governments all over the world, such as Nigel Farage. And our own government, just a lot of lawmakers, including Trump, listen to Alex Jones.
Majorie Taylor Greene called out Fauci on the House floor for experimenting on beagle dogs. The dogs had their heads put into a box, and maggots were allowed to feast on the dog's faces while they were still alive. Greene showed a picture of this horrible experiment in the House of Representatives on live camera, and I am certain this information came from Alex Jones.
Jones has also blasted Trump for his "Operation Warp Speed". Gradually Trump has backed off from supporting the COVID vaccine.
Alex Jones is the "leak" that is affecting public policy and hurting the Establishment. That is why they Establishment sued Jones on Sandy Hook 11 years later - to silence him, as the lawsuit was not intended to give money to some grieving parent.
Something big is coming, as the rats are leaving the sinking ship. Fauci retired. Jamie Dimon retired. Klaus Schwab retired. A lot of the old time Establishment, like Kissinger, Brzezinski, David Rockefeller, and others have died. It leaves people like Bill Gates and Bourla the head of Pfizer to take the rap for killing all of these people with these mandatory COVID shots.
So they need to get Jones out of the way before this all falls on them like a house of cards. Especially before this next election.
Jones is predicting that Biden will be replaced either before or at the Democratic Convention this summer. Number one replacement is Gavin Newsome, number two is Michelle Obama. We will see.
They want Jones out before the election, because he will be reporting on their election fraud. We saw their techniques in the 2020 election, and now that we are watching them, it will be much easier for Jones and others to document the 2024 fraud. And someone could go to jail if Trump wins regardless of their fraud. So they need Jones out immediately.

Re: Alex Jones...
I never listened to Alex Jones, but heard plenty about him. Bottom line he lied. I view him no different than the main stream media lying, politicians lying, the administration's lying, etc. The other day I listened to the White House press briefing and KJP lies at almost every briefing, and no one holds her accountable.

Like a lot of us, the difference is, we will listen to KJP and know she is lying.
But we have never listened to Alex Jones, only heard plenty about him, and from what we have heard, we think he is also lying.
Could it be that the same Establishment that is lying to us from the White House, is the same Establishment that is lying to us about Alex Jones?
Jones has lost the case with the Sandy Hook families and Establishment lawyers.
But Jones has won spectacularly in a much higher court: The Court of Public Opinion.
Anyone that looks at this case knows it is a sham trial, which has boosted Jones' popularity.
Likewise, the cases against Trump with Stormy Daniels, where legally paying an attorney is being tried in a State court, for a supposed crime that only the Federal court has jurisdiction, is patently absurd. And so Trump is surging in the polls after this case.
Yet Hillary Clinton can "bleach bit" her server with classified information on it, while under subpoena and it is never called "obstruction of justice." And so everyone hates Hillary Clinton, because she benefited off a corrupt judicial system. This is backfiring against them.
The cases against Jones and Trump, and the January 6th political prisoners that walked through the open doors of the Capitol, while FBI asset Ray Epps remains at large - these all show a two tiered system of justice.
And it is not just Democrat or Republican.
The Biden administration is withholding Secret Service Protection for RFK Jr, something that has never been done before.
This is lawfare against anyone that opposes the Establishment, Republican or Democrat.
And it is backfiring, spectacularly. Younger people really hate the Establishment now, especially with the Establishment idea of drafting young men and young women so the USA can fight Russia in Ukraine. That is insane.
And what is opening the eyes of the young are these Stalin-like show trials. These sham legal trials are so obvious, that the younger crowd is now siding with Trump and Jones.
Most of the people on this forum are over 50 years old, and they don't recognize the trend among younger people. Polls are showing a huge increase in support for Trump in young black voters. There is a tidal shift coming.
And because we "don't listen to someone, but we know he is lying" - that means we are still getting our information from CNN and other Establishment news outlets. The younger generation is not doing this. The younger generation is listening to podcasters like Joe Rogan.
And from these podcasts, they know the Dept of Justice is corrupt. These sham trials are proof.
I like what the protestors at the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago chanted: "The Whole World is Watching." They yelled this while being beaten by Mayor Daily's police troopers. It is even more true today, with the internet.
With the internet, the dissemination of ideas is now outside the control of the Establishment. They are suing Alex Jones in an attempt to reign this power back under the Establishment. It is not working.
Just like the invention of Gutenberg's press brought about the Renaissance and Reformation and ended feudalism, so will the Internet bring about a new world without the old Establishment. Their days are numbered. I pray for peace and a better world. It might just happen.

I’m actually seeing the opposite… the age of forums is at an end and the primary sources of communication are now things like tiktok, Reddit, discord and the like. Community is getting channeled into controlled gardens. Pros and cons to this but people are seeing less information and more garbage.JohnHurt wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 9:53 am With the internet, the dissemination of ideas is now outside the control of the Establishment. The shrinking of places to go on the internet means information is controlled more then ever while we still have the “Wild West” of internet. Sure you can still find it, but less and less people are going off the beaten path to find it.

Re: Alex Jones...
Yes, a nicer and kinder approach than Socrates. I like your idea.Bootstrap wrote: ↑Mon Jun 17, 2024 9:46 pmWell, no. It's not the Socratic method. You need a very different kind of question for that. Like the ones Socrates used. Questions more like this:
1. **Clarification Questions:**
- What do you mean by that?
- Can you give me an example?
- How does this relate to what we were talking about?
2. **Probing Assumptions:**
- What are you assuming here?
- Why do you think that assumption holds true?
- Could we approach this issue from another angle?
3. **Probing Rationale, Reasons, and Evidence:**
- What evidence supports this idea?
- Why do you think this evidence is valid?
- Are there any other perspectives or data points?
4. **Questioning Viewpoints and Perspectives:**
- Why do you think this is the case?
- How would someone who disagrees with you view this situation?
- Can you think of any counterarguments?
5. **Probing Implications and Consequences:**
- What are the implications of your argument?
- If we follow this line of reasoning, where does it lead us?
- What might be the long-term consequences?
6. **Questions About the Question:**
- Why do you think I asked that question?
- What does that question assume?
- How could someone answer this question?
Maybe if I can put this into practice, I won't have to drink hemlock after all.

I believe the opposite, that more and more people are going to other places to find the truth of our world.Soloist wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 10:06 amI’m actually seeing the opposite… the age of forums is at an end and the primary sources of communication are now things like tiktok, Reddit, discord and the like. Perhaps the people of our older generation do not know where to look.
My sons have set up their own Discord server, just for our family. My wife uses it to call them to supper.
For illegal activities, there is the dark web. I suppose you remember the Silk Road.
Do you remember the old "woodpecker" or "number stations" on shortwave. These were used by governments to share information with their world wide spy networks. They use the internet now.
For information that has to be verified as true, the technique is to video an unimpeachable source, like the person that developed the mRNA vaccine technology, and let him tell you how it causes a spike protein that creates blood clots. Or the lady that worked in the Chinese lab in Wuhan.
Or the Republican poll watchers that were run out of Cobo Hall in Detroit in 2020, with cardboard put over the windows so they could not see the election being stolen. Those video interviews are priceless.
YouTube is scrubbing these types of videos. You have to find them on Rumble, or on Jones' banned.video video hosting system. But they are still there, if you know where to look. Old codgers like us just don't know where to look.
So the information of what is happening in our world can no longer be suppressed by the Establishment.
Other information that cannot be suppressed are both sides of any military conflict. There are two sides to what happened on Oct 7 in Gaza, and two sides to what is currently happening to the people of Palestine.
Also the war in Ukraine. I use this resource nearly every day to keep track of the events there, as it has information from both sides:
https://liveuamap.com/
You won't get that from the Western Establishment media.
The days of ABC, NBC, and CBS television networks, along with the Gannett Newspaper chain controlling all of our information - that day is over.
Young people do not watch TV or read newspapers. They listen to podcasts.
Joe Rogan is the most listened podcaster, with 11 million listeners for each show. Rogan uses profanity, but if you can get past that, he has some interesting topics.
The mainstream media are so dull. They report very little real or useful information. That is why no one listens to them. They are dead.
And Alex Jones is winning over the Establishment media, like always. The Sandy Hook trial has given him even more viewers.

I think the model is moving towards entertainers who get money and fame by engaging crowds, taking advantage of the algorithms that are profitable for social media companies. It's the mouse-click model. If people tune in, it gets amplified. True or false, toxic or good.Soloist wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 10:06 am I’m actually seeing the opposite… the age of forums is at an end and the primary sources of communication are now things like tiktok, Reddit, discord and the like. These entertainers are sometimes called influencers. Alex Jones is certainly one of them. And conspiracy theories are enormously engaging. They may trash the lives of ordinary people like these parents, but they sure earn a lot of money.
