By coincidence I have the same camera. Or a very similar model.

You need to download the advanced owners manual from Panasonic's web site: https://help.na.panasonic.com/camera-ca ... /dmc-zs10/

I think the page you want is page 95. If not word-search on date and you'll find all the places in the manual that address date and time stamps.

I found page 95 but it doesn't help me know where to find "settings" and this particular setting.

My daughter has the camera so I can't mess with it in person. Sorry. I haven't actually used it in years.

I finally figured it out. I needed to be in P MODE to make these changes.

Yes, the software zoom doesn't do anything better than cropping and enlarging the size of your image with your software.

I was given a 60x optical zoom Nicon. Nice, but no viewfinder, just the big back screen that can't be seen in full daylight. Look for a viewfinder you can put your eye up to and see what you are doing when it is bright out.

Use of software zoom made a 5000$ leica with a Zeiss lens look worse than a <1000$ Pentax with a “kit” lens, using optical zoom. Had my brother in law scratching his head.
