Today .. now ..
i will drive in pouring rain and storms to a doctor appointment.
i haven’t driven in bad weather like this for a long while.

there is one place where the road notoriously floods.
it was worked on a couple of years ago.

Home again, no mishaps.
The formerly flood-prone county road was great. No standing water; the fields were flooded, but the road was great.
i smile in my civil engineering husband’s memory. he took these matters personally.

You and I must have ridden different trains.

i hope you get to land in GRR.
We did. Rough drive in. 3 hours of rain storm. One hour delay at DFW, but then things cleared out and all went well.

Saw this beached 7 foot long hoodwinker sunfish today. The skin feels like rough concrete. Very tough, rough, sort of almost prickly hide.

Likewise. Interesting fish. A friend laughed and said it might be from that Fukushima nuclear plant accident in Japan. Perhaps my friend is not too far off the mark? Up next: Godzilla?

Got a call a little while ago from our nephew's wife in Cape Town, South Africa. Her husband was assaulted while he was passing out tracts in a township/shantytown. They pulled knives on him, stole the car and his wallet. He "fought" them off and did get away to the police station. I doubt that he hit any of them, but he did get bitten, on the same index finger, I think, that a dog had bitten part off while he was passing out tracts.

We're thankful that he escaped mostly uninjured; he has five children who need him. Please pray that the car will be recovered; one of the windows was smashed a few weeks ago, and he was robbed then, too. But he cares about people--that's why he goes back to the poor areas to give them the Gospel.

Thankyou for that story of encouragement. I believe whatever he loses in his body and material stuff will be well worth it when he receives his rewards awaiting him in heaven. I have it so easy here to go out and share the Gospel and likely will never reach that kind of persecution. Satan has his snares to keep people from hearing the Gospel and also me from proclaiming it. The world needs more like this husband that has a zeal to win the lost and is willing to reach out, as Jesus did, to the poor. I pray that God will work out things according to His purposes as he goes through these experiences.
