Roses.... again

Post by steve-in-kville »

Has anyone rooted a rose branch? I did this with a dwarf willow bush years ago and I am told roses are easy to root as well. I have two variety of ground roses I want to propagate.

Thanks.

I’m trying to figure out how to STOP them from propagating…

My great-grandpa planted multiflora rose back when it was being promoted for soil conservation. Rose and rose of it. It spreads like a northern version of kudzu; took the next couple generations a decade or so to get rid of it.

Me and roses do not have a good history. I never could get them to survive, unless I didn't care. These ground roses are such an example: I got them for cheap and planted them at a dumb spot. My son later moved them and they are doing great. Go figure...

I haven't, but I had a co-worker that did. He strongly promoted actually using a rooting hormone, said it made a huge difference in his success
. I've heard honey works as well, but have no experience.

I was told that turmeric does the same thing. So we did that. Guess we shall see if it works or not.
