Is anything left?

This seems to happen with Charity related churches more than other groups. Any idea why?
I'm going to hazard a guess that the "Charity" church there was composed of ex-German Baptist Brethren people, and eventually those people became ex-Charity people.
I think the last one or so standing at the charity church, turned off the lights, and went to the German Baptist church.
Yes, I know those folks well. One is a relative of my wife's, good friends of ours. The church never grew much beyond the couple of families who were instrumental in starting it, and after ten years or so they went elsewhere. I wouldn't call them a Charity church so much as an independent conservative Anabaptist church. I've had a similar experience. Conservative Mennonites don't let that happen to their new outreaches. They will basically move heaven and earth to make a new congregation work. Independent churches often don't have the people or the resources to draw from if a new church is struggling to gain its footing. For example, in our conference there is a congregation that just lost a large number of its members, maybe even half or more, I don't know for sure. We're sending in extra visiting speakers and I assume if there aren't really enough people to make church life work, we'll be assigning people to drive a distance for services to help them out.

I have observed this in my own circle.

I have been the one who turned out the lights after the last service in my former church. There is nothing so sad.

The Holdemans have a sizeable national church there, and it is no longer a 'mission' - it has its own indigenous leaders, and actually sends out leaders to other countries. They have also started a church school, and are in the process of opening a college/university.

Hello, I am Mark Kraus and my wife Charity and our eleven children. I was raised Roman Catholic but was born again at age 18. I left the Catholic church and became an Anabaptist after meeting someone from the Cookeville Community in Tennessee in 1996.Long Story short we moved to Hickory NC with the intention of starting a conservative Anabaptist church. Feel free to email or contact me. Our website is Kingdomchristians.org Our vision statement is there and includes raising up a church primarily from the community. Being the only conservative Anabaptists in the area (there are two liberal churches here) we have an awesome opportunity and are seeing a good amount of interest when we preach the Gospel of the Kingdom here. May The Lord Jesus receive the honor and glory!

Greetings, Mark. It is my understanding that there are some house churches in western NC who meet to study the Early Church Fathers along with the Bible. Are you familiar with them?

There is also a new-ish Bruderhof colony in Madisonville, TN. Have you met them?

Hello Max,
Thank you for responding to my post. It is great to network on this site. I have not heard of the home groups you are talking about but would love to meet them. What is the name of the bruderhof in Tn? Do they have a website? If you could give me a contact for the group in NC that would be a blessing. Have you look over my website?

It has been a few years but I seem to recall the western NC churches belonged to this group in Charlotte https://www.freedomhouse.cc/

The TN Bruderhof colony has a website

I am not sure that is the right website, it looks like a smoke and lights church.
