Illegal alien arrivals now greater than American births?

Judas Maccabeus wrote: ↑Mon Jan 01, 2024 6:17 pmIt will bankrupt virtually every large eastern, and likely midwestern city. They are trying to keep the buses out of the city, yet they are dropping them out in the commuter rail stations. “Theory” is fine, but the reality is different.
All the sanctuary cities want is for immigrants buses to arrive during normal business hours, for buses to be spread out throughout the day, and to be given notice when the buses may arrive. I don't think this is asking too much.

The Chicago mayor says,
The problem, Johnson said, is the lack of coordination between Abbott and the officials running the cities to which he is sending the migrants. Johnson said that only creates more chaos.

“What we have said repeatedly is that we need Congress to act to provide the resources that are needed in order to carry out this mission,” Johnson said. “But what we can’t have is a governor in the state of Texas, acting the way he is acting and quite frankly, the rogue buses that are being dropped off across this country in the middle of the night, leaving people with no real support at all, no coordination with the local municipalities.”

“What we’re simply saying, what I’ve done over a month ago, we provided an ordinance that would ultimately provide some structure and some coordination around when buses should arrive,” Johnson said. “Should not be dropping people off in the middle of the night in the middle of nowhere without the type of support that’s needed.”
...
I think the officials in Texas delight in providing chaos in the "sanctuary cities" in order to make a point. That isn't being nice to the immigrants.
There is nothing new under the sun. Lack of coordination between transportation schedules and the preparations of the host communities has been a problem for well over a century.
The year was 1874. Winter was approaching and a group of Russian-Mennonite immigrants was searching for a place to call home.

Failing to heed counsel warning them of harsh conditions ahead the group, new to the United States, found itself in Hutchinson as temperatures plummeted. “It was 12-degrees below zero when they reached Hutchinson,” said Swiss Mennonite Historical and Cultural Association president LaVerne Stucky. “They were shuttled off in a little warehouse for awhile.” ...

Folks from the Sante Fe Railroad and the Mennonite Board of Guardians put them up in poorly constructed homes to wait out the cold. “Around 300 of those settlers died that winter,” Stucky said. Small pox, lack of nutrition, and the bitter cold all played a part.

It just takes about a year for work permits to be processed because the office that does it is absolutely overwhelmed and they do have to do a bunch of review of the applicant's background before granting the permit. So they can't just do them in mass.

Again, this is part of what the administration was requesting more funds for in its supplemental budget request that Republicans in Congress seem uninterested in advancing.
The legal fiction that illegal aliens actually are legal arrivals if they turn in a piece of paper that says “I want to make an asylum claim” than an NGO provided them is one most Americans no longer accept. Simple fact is they’re illegal aliens if the asylum claim is bogus. End of discussion.

These requirements seem very reasonable to me.
These requirements would allow Chicago to process 90 buses per week in an orderly manner.
(On the average, Chicago has only been processing 18 bus loads per week.)

Hmm. Perhaps Chicago could require arrivals to have some kind of permit before arriving, and call this is a “visa”.

To deal with the problem of illegal arrivals, they could mandate buses full of migrants only arrive at designated locations. They could call them “ports of entry”.

Now, what do you propose be done with rogue buses that arrive where they aren’t supposed to without a permit?

Nonsense. It is not a legal fiction. It is the law. And there is really nothing wrong with the law. What is wrong is that Congress has failed to adequately fund the processing of immigrants and immigration courts so there are big backlogs due to Congressional inaction. Blame your Congressman and your Senators. They are the problem.

And they don't become "illegal" unless or until they fail to leave after having their asylum claim denied, or if they fail to attend a schedule asylum hearing.

It's a legal fiction that you have to allow millions of people to cross the border and then give them full visas allowing them to work because they are lodging a false asylum claim.
What is wrong is that Congress has failed to adequately fund the processing of immigrants and immigration courts so there are big backlogs due to Congressional inaction.
Or Congress can just change the law so that you don't get free entry to America and lots of free benefits just for lodging a false asylum claim.
And they don't become "illegal" unless or until they fail to leave after having their asylum claim denied, or if they fail to attend a schedule asylum hearing.
Yes, that's the legal fiction the elites are currently promoting, since it is to their benefit to flood the country with low-skilled workers so they can continue to push down on wages whilst making things like housing cost more.

From the top of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services page on Asylum:
On Aug. 3, 2023, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit issued a stay of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California’s order in East Bay Sanctuary Covenant v. Biden, 18-cv-06810 (N.D. Cal.), vacating the Circumvention of Lawful Pathways (CLP) rule. At this time and while the stay remains in place, USCIS will continue to apply the CLP rule.

Under the rule, certain individuals who enter the United States through its southwest land border or adjacent coastal borders are presumed to be ineligible for asylum, unless they can demonstrate an exception to the rule or rebut the presumption. Individuals are encouraged to use lawful, safe, and orderly pathways to come to the United States.
(emphasis added)

So no, not everyone who just shows up and wants to claim asylum is entitled to do so under the current rules.

Why? Can't we say that something is terribly wrong, and illustrate that by showing how the Nazis and other authoritarian governments used these things? As long as we are using historically accurate information, describing specific things that the Nazis actually did, I would hope that could open up conversation.

"Vermin" and "infestation" are right up there with "poisoning our blood" in Nazi propaganda. Dehumanizing people. Encouraging others to withdraw compassion from them and look the other way when people are treated badly. There's an interesting book, "They Thought They Were Free", written in the 1950s, featuring interviews with normal Germans living in a village, showing what this looked like as frogs boiled.

I think you know why. If your goal is to communicate, which seems to be your goal… then you should recognize the truth in what I said.

Nazis have exactly zero to do with the topic of this post, which is that the number of illegal-alien arrivals (according to government statistics) now exceeds the number of births (which includes births to illegal aliens and people of all kinds of races and nationalities). If you want to make a thread to discuss Nazis, go create one. If you want to create a thread to discuss other authoritarian governments, go create one.

I don't appreciate it when you accuse me of using "Nazi propaganda", which I did not do, nor did I dehumanise anyone. It is, however, facts and reality that hundreds of thousands of migrants are flooding into the country, creating significant humanitarian problems for both existing residents and for the migrants themselves.

The political tactic of accusing anyone who doesn't agree with your politics of being a Nazi is something that you should not engage in. I expect better from you.

Talked to my daughter, who works with a C&MA refugee program. She confirmed that her organization’s understanding is the same as the one you have conveyed.
