I did not refer to race in my post at all, and I’m not sure why you’re bringing it up. America is a multiracial society, and is also one that is already strained to provide equity and a fair wage and fair housing to the hundreds of millions of Americans and immigrants already here.

To me. The “great replacement” means replacing Americans with numerically huge amounts of non-Americans, which seems to be well underway. Many communities across America are concerned or protesting about the large influx of population, regardless of race.

I’m not sure why (a) you want to bring up race and (b) you want to call it a “conspiracy theory”. It’s clearly happening.

Since no one likes the word “infesting”, we can replace my usage of that word with “flooding”. Is that better?

What is the elephant in the room here, is,, that if this continues, it will bankrupt every major eastern city in America. These cities proclaimed themselves “sanctuary cities “ a decade or so ago. It is simply not working out, and cannot work out.

Josh wrote: ↑Fri Dec 29, 2023 4:06 pm It wouldn’t make any difference. It simply doesn’t work to have this many people flooding the country.

Incidentally the #3 group of illegal aliens by country are Indians. India is a long way from America and it involves either a plane ride or a very long boat ride to get here. Why are so many infesting this country?
You're an immigrant if I remember correctly.

In my opinion, the use of the term infesting is offensive and shouldn't really be allowed on this board because it is a disgraceful way to refer to human beings.
I agree the term "infesting" should not used in reference to people. However I am not sure what word could be used to describe the dramatic increase in human trafficking, the sex trafficking, the rapes of women and little girls, the fentanyl, padding the pockets of evil cartels with millions of dollars, since 2021? Is there a better word that could be used to describe babies thrown into the river by cartel traffickers? Or 50 people being cooked alive in a trailer? Although the word "infestation" in reference to people is wrong, that word is mild if used to describe the actions and policies that encourage and embolden the horrible evils that accompany open borders,
"Tragedy" is a better word. Use words that affirm the humanity of immigrants and migrants. A lot of the anti-immigration rhetoric is dehumanizing. Referring to people as an "infestation" or saying that immigrants are "polluting the blood of America" dehumanizes people.

The title of this thread is literally "The 'Great Replacement' in America" which is a direct reference to Camus's theory. You referred to immigrants from India as an "infestation." You're the one bringing up race.

Why don't you count yourself as one of these immigrants who are "infesting" or "flooding" America? Why shouldn't you have to go back to Australia?

And it’s actually quite negative for the migrants. Many of them are not being informed they’re entering a situation. Of severe overcrowding, bad weather, and lack of available jobs. Instead, they show up at the border already with paperwork from various “aid” agencies.

A very obvious question is why so many Indians are entering the U.S. and making asylum claims. I have nothing against India or Indians; it is a big, sophisticated country making huge strides and improvements in societal equity and opportunity. It’s also a really long ways from America. How, exactly, are asylum seekers from there making it all the way to the U.S.? India is a safe country, and there are plenty of safe countries between India and America.

I never said anything about the blood of America.

Let’s talk about myself, though. If I decided to go seek my fortune in, say, Togo, and just show up in the capital city with no plan, and I spent all my money to get there, and just show up and expect food and housing and a good job…

that’s not exactly fair to the country that is already full of people looking for jobs and in need of resources.

Now imagine I decide to show up, lodge a false asylum claim (probably without even knowing it - I just have a stack of papers in a language I can’t read given to me by a nonprofit organisation) - and then there are millions of other people showing up, doing the same thing?

It is indeed a tragedy. And it shouldn’t happen, at all. It makes zero sense for me, or the millions of others, to be there. We should stay in our country and work on things here. I would lay most of the blame with whomever is organising and sending them en masse.

I have no idea what Camus theory is. You claim it’s a white something conspiracy theory. I don’t think it is. India and America are both very diverse multi racial societies.
Why don't you count yourself as one of these immigrants who are "infesting" or "flooding" America? Why shouldn't you have to go back to Australia?
My parents migrated to Australia legally, filing a great deal of paperwork and paying a lot of fees. They lined up employment first and did not receive any public assistance to move there.

When they decided to move to America, they did the same thing; they arranged housing and work before showing up. Paid their own way in. Entered legally with appropriate passports and visas at a proper border. And were never a burden on the people already here, but rather after we moved here, they got busy finding ways to serve the people already here (same as they did in Australia).

My great grandmother migrated from Hungary. She also entered legally (no fake “asylum claims” either), which we know because eventually my family went and researched those old records. She helped establish the community in a city that was much less crowded then than it is now.

Here’s what makes zero sense: people migrating from a safe country and spending tens of thousands of dollars to do so who end up in Chicago or NYC virtually homeless in places that already can’t serve or help their vast homeless population. They can’t get adequate jobs. This situation helps exactly nobody, other than executives at nonprofits who continue to collect their fat pay checks whilst they destroy American cities, destroying housing affordability, and also destroy the communities migrants come from and the lives of the migrants themselves.

They are making it on an airplane. The Indian migrants that I have come across are largely economic migrants that already have extended family here. They arrived on visas of various types and overstay.

Asylum was supposed to be limited to the politically and religiously persecuted. The fact that the wait for adjudication of asylum claims is years is the principle breakdown in the system. Hire more judges, no matter what the cost, hearing within 15 days, immediate deportation for those who do not meet the standard for an asylum claim. That is “rule of law,” one of the bedrock principles of American democracy. Enforcing penalties already on the books for those who employ them will help as well.

It's nice that your parents had money, and came from a country that was on the USA's white list.

What about all the rest? Most of them would be glad to pay taxes if the USA would let them do so without jeopardizing their ability to stay and work in the country.

I am aware that some who come want to make $50k instead of 25K (adjusted to their economy). I think these folks should stay where they are (unless it is dangerous to live where they are) and save the jobs here for foreigners who do not have enough income to live and for those who are in dangerous situations. We are in process of helping to sponsor a family of the latter status.

Neither America nor Australia have a “white list” and they didn’t in 1980 or 1989 either. Doing so legally and in an orderly fashion is slow and expensive.
What about all the rest? Most of them would be glad to pay taxes if the USA would let them do so without jeopardizing their ability to stay and work in the country.
Their desire to do so doesn’t change the fact that America is strained for resources and simply lacks affordable housing at all, and entry level jobs that pay enough for that housing, in most metro areas. Immigrants are, for example, showing up en masse in NYC. A 1 bedroom tiny apartment averages around $3000-$4000/mo on NYC. Most Americans can’t afford that, let alone migrants who are supposedly impoverished and seeking help.

A bigger question is why so many nonprofits and other people feel the best thing for the planet is “Move as many people as possible into America”, regardless of laws, resources, jobs, affordable housing, or the impact it has on the people already here. It seems to me one should first be concerned about his neighbour, and not do things that impoverish his neighbour.

The fentanyl pouring into the country at the southern border IS "polluting the blood" of America, literally.
