Isn't Isaiah 54 prophetically speaking to Gentiles who will eventually be the elect of God? That passage pertains to servants of the Lord. Would that be for today's Jews?

Israel has blockaded Gaza for years and it appears they are now reaping for what they have sown. My heart goes out to the Palestinians caught in this especially considering Netenyahu's total blockade.

How many people on here have read "Son of Hamas"? It's an easy, insightful read about Hamas and one of the statements that I remember from the book is that there is one thing more addictive to a man than money and that is power/ authority. The author's dad was a Hamas leader.

Hamas was seeing their influence and opportunity wane as Israel was making peace overtures with Saudi Arabia and the other gulf states were, for the most part, moving on from the old Arab-Israeli conflicts of the 1960s and 1970s when they all fought directly against Israel. So starting a war with Israel is one way to try to undermine that whole peace process and rally other Arab states to your side.

Also Hamas is a client state of both Iran and Russia so one has to ask what Iran and Russia have to gain. Probably something similar. Iran and Russia would also see their influence in the region wane if Israel and Saudi Arabia make peace along with the other wealthy gulf states. Both Russian and Iranian state media are cheerleading this Hamas invasion so that should tell you a lot.

Russia also wants to distract attention away from its war in Ukraine.

Russia needs to distractions from Ukraine maybe it is distracting us from the billions given to Ukraine & also to Iran

So Russia and Iran supporting an attempt by Hamas to kill Israelis, which will obviously result in overwhelming numbers of Hamas/Palestinians being killed in retaliation, benefits them how? How exactly does this increase Russian or Iranian influence in the region? Influence with who?

I was in Israel this summer for 10 days. It was striking to see how weighed down people are there. My heart goes out to both sides, and especially to the victims on both sides.

Here's an email I just received from the main place I visited:

Many of you have reached out to us regarding the recent attack in Israel and to check on our students, staff and families. Thank you for your concern and for your prayers.

Our students and staff are all safe and calm. The staff are following the safety and security guidelines being issued by various governmental agencies, while trying to maintain the current class schedule as much as is possible. Though the country is small, the fighting is mainly confined to the south though some missiles have reached further. We appreciate your prayers for our families and community. Please also pray for the many others directly impacted: the hurt and wounded, the families of those who have been killed, for His protection over all the innocent civilians on both sides. Pray for the leaders and governmental authorities, that God would grant them wisdom. Pray that the war will not spread but would rather de-escalate. Pray for peace.
