The question is why they’re (a) saying it at all, and now (b) per the news article, saying this is normal and a part of lgbt culture/tradition. (In my opinion it’s not; I participate in pride and other such activities and never once saw children, grooming, “we’ll come for your children” etc. mentioned at all.)

It is happening, but someone else is doing something else that you ought to pay more attention
A subtle way to defend bad things is to point the finger at others, that might be doing bad things.

I don't. The NBC News article argued that chants like "we're coming for your children" are normal and have been an established part of pride marches, in some sort of "ironic" way.Szdfan wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 3:56 pmSo if you’ve never seen it, why do you argue that this is what they’re doing?Josh wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 3:15 pmThe question is why they’re (a) saying it at all, and now (b) per the news article, saying this is normal and a part of lgbt culture/tradition. People at the extreme of any political issue say provocative things. This should not be news to you.Josh wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 3:15 pmThe question is why they’re (a) saying it at all, and now (b) per the news article, saying this is normal and a part of lgbt culture/tradition. Are Christians genocidal psychopaths who want to kill all gay people? One can certainly find evidence that they are. In fact it is pretty common:
In Idaho
In TexasAhead of Pride Month, Idaho pastor says LGBTQ people deserve death penalty
BOISE (Idaho Statesman) — Last month, the pastor of a small Boise Baptist church, which prohibits gay members, told his congregation that God wants to “put all queers to death.”
“When they die, that stops the pedophilia,” said Pastor Joe Jones of Shield of Faith Baptist Church. “It’s a very, very simple process. … These people know that they’re worthy of death.”
Jones gave the May 11 sermon, published on YouTube, in anticipation of LGBTQ Pride Month in June. The preacher, in between sips of coffee from a grenade-shaped mug, chastised those who vote for political leaders that fail to execute gay people — which God commands, he said.

In TennesseeTexas pastor says gay people should be 'shot in the back of the head' in shocking sermon: Pastor Dillon Awes of Stedfast Baptist Church in Watauga said gay people "are dangerous to society” and “all homosexuals are pedophiles.”
Texas baptist church — labeled an "anti-LGBT hate group" by the Southern Poverty Law Center — has caused outrage after a pastor said gay people should be "lined up against the wall and shot in the back of the head."
Pastor Dillon Awes of Stedfast Baptist Church in Watauga, a suburb of Fort Worth, made the comment and other controversial remarks during a Sunday morning sermon titled "Why We Won’t Shut Up."
"I’m angry this morning because our entire country is celebrating the worse sin in the Bible," Awes said during the sermon referring to Pride Month, which commemorates the LGBTQ+ community every June.
"You know a lot of pastors have this stupid idea where it’s just like, 'oh you know God loves everyone. And God hates the sin but loves the sinner.' But people have taken this to such an extreme where they’re saying celebrate the sin, not just tolerate it, celebrate it," he continued. "Let me show what the Bible says about these people."
Awes read several passages from the Bible and condemned homosexuality as a sin. At one point, he told the congregation that gay people "are dangerous to society" and said that "all homosexuals are pedophiles."
"I’m not saying that every single homosexual that’s alive right now has committed that act with a child already because it could be they haven’t had the opportunity yet and they will at some point later in their life," he said. "This is why we need to put these people to death through the proper channels of the government. ... These people are not normal. They’re not your average everyday sinners. ... They have no hope of salvation."

So this is the actual context and state of the debate over gay rights and gay pride in this country. You have some small minority of gay men provocatively chanting about how they want to convert your children. And you have a small minority Christian leaders calling for mass genocide against gay people.Tennessee Pastor Who Is Also a Detective Calls for L.G.B.T. People to Be Executed
A Tennessee pastor who is also a detective said in a sermon this month that people who were lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender were “freaks” and “worthy of death,” comments that have prompted prosecutors to review cases he has investigated.
In the sermon, delivered on June 2, the pastor, Grayson Fritts, also called for the government to send a riot team to a Pride parade scheduled for June 22 in Knoxville. He said L.G.B.T. people should be arrested, tried, and if convicted, executed.
“That’s the problem with law enforcement nowadays,” he said in a video of the sermon posted by The Tennessee Holler. “They are chasing around cookie thieves, when the real animals are on floats rolling down Gay Street.”

Are either of those things actually happening? Do gay people need to fear for their lives around conservative Christian ministers? You tell me.

Re: Homosexuals chant: “We’re coming for your children”
Since when do people at "extreme end of a political issue" say "we're coming for your children" and "we'll convert your children?" (And I don't think the SF Gay Men's Chorus is supposed to be an "extreme end of a political issue".)
Well, that's what the Bible says. The penalty in the Old Testament for homosexual behaviour was the death penalty. Are Christians genocidal psychopaths who want to kill all gay people? One can certainly find evidence that they are. In fact it is pretty common:

Ahead of Pride Month, Idaho pastor says LGBTQ people deserve death penalty
BOISE (Idaho Statesman) — Last month, the pastor of a small Boise Baptist church, which prohibits gay members, told his congregation that God wants to “put all queers to death.”
That does not make Christians "genocidal psychopaths". Genocide refers to killing all people of a particular ethnic group. Homosexuals are not an "ethnic group" and the term "genocide" does not apply to them.
The latter sentence is a direct quote from Romans 1.“When they die, that stops the pedophilia,” said Pastor Joe Jones of Shield of Faith Baptist Church. “It’s a very, very simple process. … These people know that they’re worthy of death.”
Again, "worthy of death" is based on Romans 1.Tennessee Pastor Who Is Also a Detective Calls for L.G.B.T. People to Be Executed

None of these pastors threatened to actually go and kill people themselves. They did not say, "We are coming to kill you and shoot you", which would be analogous to "We're coming for your children". They simply said they believe there should be capital punishment for sodomy in a just society, which is a valid political opinion to have.

So you REALY believe it is a valid political opinion in the US to advocate for the genocidal slaughter of all gay people?Josh wrote: ↑Wed Jun 28, 2023 4:41 pmSince when do people at "extreme end of a political issue" say "we're coming for your children" and "we'll convert your children?" I would hazard a guess this same pastor wouldn’t say the same about the adulterers in his church.
God doesn’t want anyone to die, but when we chose to reject the truth, He allows us to.

Re: Homosexuals chant: “We’re coming for your children”
The point is that this is the political environment that currently exists in this country. You have extremists on BOTH sides saying very inflammatory things that are not representative of the mainstream. So do you obsess and hand-wring about it or consider that it is probably best to not give the attention-seekers the attention that the seek?
I have gay friends, gay co-workers, gay neighbors, gay students, gay parents of students, and extended family members who are gay. Do I think any of them are seeking to groom and recruit children? No I do not. In fact every one I know with whom I have spoken to on the subject does not believe that gayness or straightness is something that you can teach. They no more believe that it is possible to recruit straight people to become gay than they believe it is possible to convert gay people back to straight. So I don't think it is fair to judge them by the words of other people who are being deliberately provocative.
I also know various ministers and have ministers within my extended family. Some are liberal and some are conservative to the point of being extremely homophobic. Do I think "kill all the gays" is representative of Christian thought? No I do not. So I also don't think it is fair to judge them by the most extreme and violent members of their profession.
Tune out the attention-seekers. Don't give them the attention they so desperately seek. That is usually the best policy in every circumstance.

Re: Homosexuals chant: “We’re coming for your children”
As I said earlier, homosexuals are not an ethnic group. The term "genocidal" doesn't apply to them.
A genocide would be, for example, the Armenian genocide, or the Holocaust, or the genocide in Rwanda.
It is completely normal for a society to have laws against homosexuality and capital punishment for it - the UK used to have such laws, and they were considered completely normal (the laws were capital crimes until 1835 and stayed on the books until 1967).
But more specifically, those preachers are simply preaching from Romans 1:32:
Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
