What would you say the 'deepest' ROOT cause of global warming is? (Just pondering this)

Lack of respect or stewardship to God' creation. I've heard many Christians say that "only God can destroy the planet" as a means to disregard responsibility.

Of course a "green utopia" isn't possible considering our current population, but it doesn't take a genius to realize we could and should be doing better.

That is pretty broad. Could you break it down a bit more?

In your mind is using plastic bags lacking respect to the earth? Or going to tractor pulls? Or having air conditioning in your home? Or driving half an hour to church?

The accumulated affects of sin on this world.

And to take this one step further, most of us Christians are the cause of so much sin in the world over the centuries. If I believe the solution to sin and it's affects are in people being set free from the bondage of sin through Jesus Christ and I am not being the light in this world that draws them to the Saviour and away from sinning, then I have to admit, I am a root cause of this planet dying. However, God will be the one who finally destroys it as we know it and creates the new heaven and the new earth. He did it before with a flood and will do it again with fire. Why ? Because sin was destroying what He made that was so perfect. So, our attempts to save it in other ways will not save it.

Yes/No ?

I think it's fine to be broad. Just as "good works" is broad.
People will feel convicted to help in ways they think are most deserving of resources... I think that's fine. I don't think it's very concrete.

Natural events: The Milankovitch cycles, variations in solar radiation, volcanic eruptions.

Earth's climate, while delicate, is amazingly stable. Nothing that has ever occurred in the past has driven the climate into the positive feedback cycle that is foundational to idea of catastrophic runaway global warming.

I asked this question- because of "IF" it is true (global warming)- interesting responses- I find the liberals are blaming President Trump (of course) for cancelling some things that would help or prevent supposed global warming- these 2 hurricanes are adding to the fuel-

I tend to agree with the 'cycles' explanation- especially since we know the end of the "Good Book" as Sudsy points out, regarding the planet- they talk of our 'footprint' and it is interesting- there are those faith groups who barely would contribute to the 'footprint' effect by following Apostle Paul's guidance 'with food and clothes, be content' . If global warming IS true, probably (imo) living the opposite of that passage is the root cause- and effect- who knows but God. There may be some consequences for our lifestyles in the here and now.

Updated 2nd Edition: Al Gore's new movie An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth to Power is reviewed for its accuracy in climate science and energy policy. As was the case with Gore's first movie (An Inconvenient Truth), the movie is bursting with bad science, bad policy and some outright falsehoods. The storm events Gore addresses occur naturally, and there is little or no evidence they are being made worse from human activities: sea level is rising at the same rate it was before humans started burning fossil fuels; in Miami Beach the natural rise is magnified because buildings and streets were constructed on reclaimed swampland that has been sinking; the 9/11 memorial was not flooded by sea level rise from melting ice sheets, but a storm surge at high tide, which would have happened anyway and was not predicted by Gore in his first movie, as he claims; the Greenland ice sheet undergoes melt every summer, which was large in 2012 but then unusually weak in 2017; glaciers advance and retreat naturally, as evidenced by 1,000 to 2,000 year old tree stumps being uncovered in Alaska; rain gauge measurements reveal the conflict in Syria was not caused by reduced rainfall hurting farming there, and in fact the Middle East is greening from increasing CO2 in the atmosphere; agricultural yields in China have been rising, not falling as claimed by Gore. The renewable energy sources touted by Gore (wind and solar), while a laudable goal for our future, are currently very expensive: their federal subsidies per kilowatt-hour of energy produced are huge compared to coal, natural gas, and nuclear power. These costs are hidden from the public in increased federal and state tax rates. Gore is correct that "it is right to save humanity", but what we might need saving from the most are bad decisions that reduce prosperity and hurt the poor.
Readers also appear to be looking for a counterbalance to Gore’s climate rhetoric as The Daily Caller reports:

The e-book published to accompany Gore’s film is ranked #51,031 for purchases in the Kindle Store, according to Amazon.com. Spencer’s book is ranked #1,201 for Kindle Store purchases.
Expert enough?
Spencer earned his M.S. and Ph.D. in meteorology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has been awarded the NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal. Spencer is also the Team Leader for NASA’s Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer (AMSR-E) on the Aqua satellite.

Try hard not to offend. Try harder not to be offended.
I think I am funnier than I really am.

Personally I don't think global warming should be a concern for us believers. But not in the sense of treating what God has blessed us with in a destructive way. 2 Peter 3 says that God is being very patient and holding off from destroying the earth as He is willing that none on this planet should perish but that all should repent. Perhaps there will come a time when very few, if any, are repenting of sin and becoming Christ followers. No need for God in their lives. Like what happened in Noah's day before the flood. Matthew 24:37-39, “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”

We certainly see more and more drop outs from churches and also some of the ones that appear to be surviving and growing appear to be preaching another gospel than the one that changes hearts and ways of living. Peter says since everything around us is going to be destroyed by fire, live holy and peaceful lives. God is waiting patiently for us to get the true Gospel out to the world. Grow in the grace and knowledge of God. Don't be fooled by those twisting scripture into another gospel. Look forward with eager expectation to God making a new heaven and earth where righteousness reigns.
Gore is correct that "it is right to save humanity", but what we might need saving from the most are bad decisions that reduce prosperity and hurt the poor.
Yes, Gore is right in this quote but humanity needs saving from the power and penalty of sin. All types of sin. That is what Jesus came to initiate. "And she will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins." Mathew 1:21.
