Today ...
Re: Today ...
Spent 2 hours on a Zoom call with some lawyers this morning. So fun.

Re: Today ...
Pressure washed the shed roof and got about half painted. I was not planning on doing either today.
"Now that I got it all washed, let me just paint a small bit to see how it is going to work.

Once I start, I have trouble stopping.

Still have half to go. Will try to finish tomorrow.

Re: Today ...
Looks nice, Robert. I understand what you mean about continuing. I am that way about any painting chore. My rationale is that I do not want to wash out the roller only to have a go the next day. I want it done in one then bin the disposable roller.Robert wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 5:54 pm Pressure washed the shed roof and got about half painted. I was not planning on doing either today.

Re: Today ...
Today we attended a First Baptist Church in Cody, Wyoming.
Some things I appreciated:
- Congregational hymn singing. Beat 4/4 time with hand, as I am accustomed to in the Mennonite church.
- KJV Bible preached from and in the hymn rack.
- Hell-fire salvation message - was a real sermon, vs. a inspirational motivational speech.
- Dressed up, few casual clothes, no utterly ridiculous clothes.
- Had a potluck afterwards in the basement.
- Visiting California Bible college quartet sang old hymns, and wore matching suits and ties, some acapella, others with only piano accompaniment. No drums, no wild hairstyles, no jewelry, no tight clothes.
- Welcoming of visitors. Very friendly and accommodating.
- They have their own small church school of about 20 students.
Some things that I didn’t appreciate so much:
- Greeted by man at the door with an open-carry handgun on his hip. Not the only one with a handgun in the church.
- The gospel tract selection. Patriotic flag tracts in the rack saying “Hello veteran, we are grateful for what you did…” and “If those who die in battle go to heaven, then in the name of justice, the others, because they have been willing to die, ought to go to Heaven also, regardless of the way they live or their attitude toward the Lord Jesus Christ.” And another tract that asks “Am I going to heaven?” With a quiz of 18 questions. Instructions: Check the boxes below what you think is necessary to get you to Heaven. (The tract says none of these 18 are necessary to get to Heaven.) The first question is “Obeying God’s laws and commandments.”
- The teaching of eternal security (once saved always saved).
- The reminder to the congregation to honor upcoming Memorial Day by thanking a veteran, and KIA widows. And a reminder of upcoming national Flag Day.
- The American flag and the Christian flag side by side on the stage.
Something I didn’t know:
Preacher said that Wyoming didn’t have any Covid, so we didn’t need to worry about getting it.

Re: Today ...
Almost done with the school semester. Finals are tomorrow and Tuesday. I spent a going chunk of the day writing finals. I still have to write one more. Graduation is today and I'll start getting ready as soon as I finish writing this post.
Still have a bunch of grading to finish. I got the big projects done. Just a bunch of little stuff. I'm still assigning too much to grade (which is typical of rookie teachers). The instructional coach and I discussed working on streamlining my grading next year.
I'm looking forward to a break. It's been a hard year and I'm exhausted. After getting some rest and working on some personal projects, I'm excited to start prep for school next year. I've got a better sense in some of the areas I need to grow as a teacher and that's exciting.
