Some friends of ours were discussing what appears to be an increase in demonic activity and demon possession, so much so that there is an increased number of calls for exorcists (specialists who help with deliverance prayers and support). Our friends also feel the increase in crime may also be driven by demons.

What are the perspectives of you and your fellowship on this observation? Is there an increase in demonic activity and possession?
Are these Catholic friends or Anabaptist friends?

Writers imply; readers infer. A common misappropriation.

This wasn't aimed at me, but it's worth discussing.
Josh wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 1:06 pm The problem here is that, in my perception, you are very eager to point out when your political opponents do the above, but seem very reluctant to admit your political allies do the same thing. In effect, you seem to hold a position that your political opponents are somehow dishonest, dirty, and liars, but that your political allies are upstanding, morally upright citizens. This is a rather core problem with political division and disunity in this country.
I agree, people on both sides do this. But you do it too, Josh, as much as anyone. And it does not lead to truth.
Josh wrote: ↑Fri Apr 21, 2023 1:06 pmI am well aware that politicians and partisans on both sides do this, but I think it's wrong to do. As the most ardent partisans (in my perception) in terms of the amount of posts they make and the diversity of issues they comment on, in MennoNet, support the liberal-progressive side of things, that is where I focus most of my call for balance. Back in 2014 in the MennoDiscuss days, things were a bit different. Most of my political posts back then were criticising the "right wing" side of things. I rarely see the kind of right wing "clickbait" sort of "fake news" posts now that were more common back then.
Here's what the balance currently looks like on MN. I don't think that liberals dominate.

i’m guilty, and loathe my guilt. (one added factor to bear is length of membership time.) “fast+furious”

a lib posting f+f, can easily receive many multiples of responses .. which skews surface numbers.
i’m sorry to say. i mean, personally, i regret so much is reactionary.

For instance. Looking at posts per day, Josh is behind Ken.
Maybe we’re all behind Ken? i didn’t look.

For a time, i got my posts per day into the 3% range, i was so happy. now back up to 6%. i don’t like that.
i’ve tried different techniques, like, “1 post per day.” Valerie advised that was too legalistic.
i like it, tho. it has merits.

On MD, there were some who competed for “most posts!” - i attempted to give mine away. no takers.

For a time on MN, Robert was at 20,000+, he’s now in the 7,000s. Robert has special powers.

i’m not good at math. just sayin’.

I wonder if we eliminated all the arguments how many posts they really would have from this top list. I am unsure if I should be ashamed that I’m on the top list or not.

I feel somewhat the same and then a thread is started that actually looks like it may generate Christian content that could be God honouring but often quickly deteriorates. I can't say my experiences here, after more than 4852 posts, overall, have been more positive than negative to my spiritual life. And I will take my share of the blame in this. I guess this is probably an addiction I need to take serious and find some place else to share my interests in the Christian life.

With that said and the way I feel at the moment it may be time to sign off for good. I will take a week off from posting and check in to see during this week if things are more to my spiritual interests and go from there.

Have a nice day everyone and may we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. God bless !!!
