I think AI is programmed to be able to treat words as having multiple meanings. In this case, the man is in the wrong in his motive even if he is speaking a factual sentence.

And to think, for years sci-fi authors have been telling us that AI will be destroyed when humans finally rise up, having had enough of being slaves of our robotic overlords. When in fact we will have risen up and destroyed AI long before that point because we got tired of the pedantic lectures.
