Tylenol has a max dose in 24 hours, so do you start counting at 12am to 12am? Does the dose at 12am stack with the prior 12am? Logic would dictate that all the doses in 24 hours add up to too much but nurse logic is that the stacking of meds resets at 1159pm so a minute later is a different 24 hour time period and the prior 24 hours is disconnected.
If your patient takes a 1gram at midnight, another at 8am, next at 4pm and final dose at midnight again how many doses did you take in 24 hours? The answer might surprise you!
Is it
A: 4grams
B: 3grams
C: 8grams
D: nothing unless you had a headache from this math.

Re: Today ...
Odd, how, when in pain, i was “counting the minutes” (for 2 hours) until i could take the next pill.
Pain abated, it’s hard to remember to take the next pill.
i’m near half-through.

Not enough information to answer the question but making a few assumptions would allow "D" as the most plausible.Soloist wrote: ↑Sun Apr 09, 2023 12:12 pm Tylenol has a max dose in 24 hours, so do you start counting at 12am to 12am? I have to admit I struggled to wrap my head around it as it. I understand it, but it still didn’t make a lot of sense as an isolated set.

You can't have midnight twice in 24 hours, can you?

Is there a particular reason you would be taking a dose every time the patient takes one?silentreader wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2023 7:43 pmB: 3gramsSoloist wrote: ↑Sun Apr 09, 2023 12:12 pm Tylenol has a max dose in 24 hours, so do you start counting at 12am to 12am? Because of my antibiotics, i’ve spent too much time with this brain-teaser.
Altho i believe 3 grams is the correct answer for the (odd) problem, the intended dose is not stated, even the max dose is not stated.
Should he be taking a 1 gram dose every 8 hours (3 grams in 24 hours) - For how long?
The second midnight begins the next 24 hour day.
