What’s going on?

What did this mean then?Josh wrote: ↑Mon Mar 26, 2018 6:52 pmThe last I spoke with someone, they were figuring out when to decide official numbers due to a large influx of churches (Martindale District, formerly a part of LMC, is courting BMA), alongside some departures.Ernie wrote:Does anyone know the current BMA membership?
And what about current membership with Bible Mennonite Fellowship in Oregon?
What are some constituent churches of bmf?

Re: Progressive Conservative Mennonite Churches
Yes Martindale is still Lancaster conference. However a large group of it's members were no longer comfortable being part of Lancaster Conference. This group broke off, bought an unused United Zion Church in Stevens, Pa. and formed Heritage Mennonite. Heritage Mennonite joined BMA, (Biblical Mennonite Alliance).Josh wrote: ↑Tue Feb 28, 2023 11:39 pmI was hoping someone would fill me in, as I don’t know anything about this. Re: Progressive Conservative Mennonite Churches
Thank you, Grace. GAMEO lists a Heritage Mennonite Church in Ontario as being a constituent member of BMA...I'm guessing then there are now 2 Heritage Mennonite Congregations? Additionally, I noticed that the Churchtown congregation in Narvon is no longer a member of the Martindale district. Does that mean they've affiliated elsewhere or are they independent?Grace wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 7:53 amYes Martindale is still Lancaster conference. According to this page, Churchtown is still Lancaster Conference, and in the Martindale district.

Churchtown went BMA also...also a few other Martindale district families left (though most were from Martindale church).HondurasKeiser wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 9:08 amThank you, Grace. That page has no date, and I strongly suspect is not current.Grace wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 9:41 am According to this page, Churchtown is still Lancaster Conference, and in the Martindale district.

Looks like it was uploaded in May of 2017, but not said it was current at that time.ohio jones wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 1:29 pmThat page has no date, and I strongly suspect is not current.Grace wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 9:41 am According to this page, Churchtown is still Lancaster Conference, and in the Martindale district.

Re: Progressive Conservative Mennonite Churches
It amuses me when people refer to something being "in" Narvon when there's not much "there" there except the post office, which services an area much larger than the actual community. My aunt's address was Narvon when she lived just outside Morgantown, because that's where the USPS boundary was. Churchtown itself, being unincorporated, doesn't really have official boundaries, but I would tend to say that Churchtown Mennonite (Weaverland) is in Churchtown but Churchtown Mennonite (LMC/BMA) is not, being half a mile from anything resembling a town (and 4 miles from where Google Maps says Narvon is).

Re: Progressive Conservative Mennonite Churches
I'd forgotten how familiar you are with that area and group of people. I have another query for you then. I remember that when I was teaching in the area there was some controversy over at the Conestoga congregation over the issue of continued membership in MCUSA. A group under the leadership of Alvin Horning and _____ Petersheim (blanking on his first name), left there and formed Grace & Truth Fellowship and were thus one of the signatory congregations to the new AMEC group. When looking at the AMEC website now though I notice that Grace & Truth is no longer a constituent member and the congregation website states that they're independent. Do you happen to know under what circumstances that group left AMEC?ohio jones wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 1:56 pmIt amuses me when people refer to something being "in" Narvon when there's not much "there" there except the post office, which services an area much larger than the actual community.
