From a marketing standpoint, Facebook ads are still among the most effective in my experience. So, many people clearly are used to this kind of experience on social media - being targeted by companies that they either follow, are targeting them through ads, or that Facebook thinks they will like. With all the fragmentation into alternative social media sites, Facebook is still paramount for my business, for whatever reason.
Facebook is more local. They verify where you are and where you live so you can actually be subjected to local advertising. I rarely look at Facebook anymore but I do notice local ads, even hyper-local stuff like for contractors in my neighborhood.

Twitter allows any random person to sign on with any anonymous user name so I don't think they know where you are except perhaps generally by where your internet connection comes from. I don't ever see any local ads on Twitter, it is just national stuff like for Apple or MGM or ABC TV, that sort of thing.

That makes sense. My business is entirely local. I do post ads on Twitter, but they get zero engagement. The wrinkle with Facebook recently is Apple allowing users to ask apps not to track by default, thus limiting the data Facebook might have on some users, making ads less effective. But I don't know how much that is affecting things yet.

Facebook is much more sophisticated about gathering user data. So I think that even if they aren't tracking the day-to-day movements of your phone, they do know your home address, where you shop, your birth date, where you went to school, etc. So they can target you specifically. Twitter basically knows that your user name is catturd2 or some such (one of Elon's favorite guys) and they know your phone number or email for account verification. But that is about it. Apparently in many instances they don't even know if you are a bot or real person.

Dec 6 2022 / Black Conservative group requests meeting with Elon Musk to support ‘Twitter’s move toward free speech’
https://www.bizpacreview.com/2022/12/06 ... h-1314964/
Project 21, a black leadership group for the National Center for Public Policy Research (NCPPR), sent a letter to Elon Musk Monday requesting a meeting to discuss the “other side of the black experience” on social media.

Project 21 hopes to “counter” recent demands from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), National Urban League (NUL) and National Action Network (NAN), which are “an obvious attempt to influence Twitter’s move toward free speech and inclusivity of divergent viewpoints,” according to a Project 21 press release. Project 21 intends to partner with Twitter to provide “a balanced view of black opinion” that supports free speech and fights against “efforts by the left and the Biden Administration” to limit free speech, according to the release.

“With Elon Musk’s recent acquisition of Twitter and his commitment to the tenets of free speech, Project 21 seeks to partner with the new Twitter chief executive in ensuring that the diversity of voices in the black community are represented fairly,” Project 21’s chairman Horace Cooper said. “There has been much fearmongering about rising white supremacist propaganda and racial and religious hatred on the Twitter platform that simply isn’t genuine.”

Project 21 was founded over 25 years ago and works to promote views of “black Americans whose entrepreneurial spirit, dedication to family and commitment to individual responsibility have not traditionally been echoed by the nation’s civil rights establishment,” according to the letter. The group describes itself as a research and communications foundation that works to strengthen black families and American values, while also promoting conservative and libertarian black leaders in the media.

The leadership group believes it has become “abundantly evident” that social media collusion with the government and censorship are real, and credits Musk for releasing documents connected to Hunter Biden’s laptop over the weekend, according to the letter.

“We applaud Mr. Musk in his recognition that the protection of free speech is indeed ‘a battle for the future of civilization,’” Cooper continued. .. ..

Elon Musk wants a new Twitter CEO by end of the year / 30sec
Description:
“I’m guessing toward the end of this year should be a good timing to find someone else to run the company.”

Elon Musk said he may need the rest of this year to make Twitter Inc. financially healthy before handing off to a new chief executive officer.

Well, that can’t be good:

https://www.nhtsa.gov/vehicle/2018/TESL ... WD#recalls
Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2016-2023 Model S, Model X, 2017-2023 Model 3, and 2020-2023 Model Y vehicles equipped with Full Self-Driving Beta (FSD Beta) software or pending installation. The FSD Beta system may allow the vehicle to act unsafe around intersections, such as traveling straight through an intersection while in a turn-only lane, entering a stop sign-controlled intersection without coming to a complete stop, or proceeding into an intersection during a steady yellow traffic signal without due caution. In addition, the system may respond insufficiently to changes in posted speed limits or not adequately account for the driver's adjustment of the vehicle's speed to exceed posted speed limits.

James 5

Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workers who mowed your fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you. Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming...
