There may be an actual chance for peace to happen here.
i’m primarily bothered by one year’s silence from the U.S. regarding any description resolution, China is not the first to offer diplomacy - now this report of China recommending cease fire (msm seems to be doubling-down on “China is evil.”) Which i expected out of msm.

It’s simple human nature, $100 billion invested in war .. translates into no interest in cease fire!
“Where your treasure are” .. Matthew 6:21

i’m not fond of biden’s hawk-side: he does not hesitate (clips in the video):

🚨 NATO and U.S. issue red alert against China and Putin | Redacted with Clayton Morris / first 10min, then ads
✏️ Description:
“NATO, President Biden and every member of his staff are suddenly sounding the alarm about China crossing a red line in Ukraine.
It's a remarkable level of propaganda being deployed to draw China and Russia into war with the West.
Putin just slammed the West in a big speech pointing out all the ways the U.S. is using propaganda to undermine Russia.”

^^always question sources.
i’m not suggesting this video is any more accurate than others. it’s a different pov.

The only thing that will prompt a ceasefire will be conditions on the ground. As long as both sides believe they can win, there will be war. Until at least one side believes they can't continue, proposals from third party nations are irrelevant.

And yes, China providing military aid to Russia would escalate things.

This is what I've found about what the Chinese ceasefire proposal from China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs:

https://www.fmprc.gov.cn/mfa_eng/zxxx_6 ... 30713.html

1) One criticism I've heard about the proposal is that it's a broad set of principles that lacks details. Certainly details can be worked out between negotiators, but as they say, the devil is in the details.

2) Notably, the plan makes no mention of Russian occupied territories like Crimea or the Donbass. That's a major sticking point in all of this. The plan specifically condemns sanctions but other than vague comments about sovereignty, says nothing about Russian occupied territory? Hmm.

I watched this panel discussion about the Chinese proposalon Al Jazeera that features a Russian and an Ukrainian journalist. One of the main sticking points is the Russian occupation of Crimea and the Donbass, which were both illegally annexed by Russia and which Ukraine wants back.

I'm not sure how that can be negotiated at this moment. The Chinese plan doesn't call for the withdrawal from Ukrainian territory (the Russisn journalist responds, what is Ukrainian territory, which is one of the big hurdles to get over). Russia at this point is not going to return land they have annexed, even though the rest of the world doesn't recognize it. Ukraine at this point isn't just going to allow lost territory to go to Russia. How do you solve this?

I do think that any peace plan that just hands territory to Russia rewards them for their bad behavior.

I have no idea how this is going to get resolved.

What next? Do you want the ceasefire to contain terms about Western occupied China (Taipei and other places)?

Szd,
Your response is a longer version of the Zelensky interview just above, he states he’s interested in China’s offer to choose cease fire,
he states it’s about actions and details, of course.

On his part, Zelensky is not free to choose, $100+ billion comes with strings.

As far as your simplistic words about “as long as both side” .. true, in basic human reasoning. Thankfully, real life is more-than.
For instance: Was there 1 person anywhere that foresaw China stepping up with recommendations for cease fire?!

This is what makes life grand: THE UNEXPECTED. Jesus, Himself, embodies THE UNEXPECTED.

Men with notorious limitations are so often wrong. Even very powerful men with untold riches. Even propagandists.
i’m not sure why every thought+action isn’t automatically hedged with, “if God wills.”

i was busy being a young wife and mother, not paying attention to politics, even i remember this “impossible” moment in history.
the awe of the moment has not faded.

Early in this war, Z and putin and others, later, Elon Musk .. have attempted (i call it resolution, peace seems other worldly in this case) .. again, not a peep from the U.S., NATO, West. i find that suspicious if not damning.

$100+ billion isn’t chump change, the profiteers aren’t going to say, “ok, great, never mind” and go home empty-handed.

Zelensky is not a free man.

History has proven, even billions in “might” do not guarantee outcomes.
Men speaking edgy informed impressive opinions do not guarantee outcomes.

Billions guarantee tremendous propaganda. Full stop.

i concur.

Here’s what bothers:
The inability to TRUST elected leadership and msm.

Ordinary people want to TRUST the elected, and msm.
Of course that’s fantasy on earth, and scriptures warn: VIGILANCE. NO SLEEPING.

We want to sleep. We really-really do. :-|

Huh? The question about Crimea and Donbass is one of the central issues in this conflict. Any peace process that doesn't address this is DOA.

Well, if you expect Ukraine to somehow annex Crimea then you’d better be open to allowing China to reunify with its island of Taiwan.

Even when Russia did settle before with (Poland?) they still came out better off in terms of land. It’s foolish to think Russia is going to give up any fortified held territory without major loss of life which isn’t going to happen unless western powers send manpower.
