Exxon...

The knew exactly what they were doing while lying about it for decades: https://www.nytimes.com/2023/01/12/clim ... hange.html
In the late 1970s, scientists at Exxon fitted one of the company’s supertankers with state-of-the-art equipment to measure carbon dioxide in the ocean and in the air, an early example of substantial research the oil giant conducted into the science of climate change.

A new study published Thursday in the journal Science found that over the next decades, Exxon’s scientists made remarkably accurate projections of just how much burning fossil fuels would warm the planet. Their projections were as accurate, and sometimes even more so, as those of independent academic and government models.

Yet for years, the oil giant publicly cast doubt on climate science, and cautioned against any drastic move away from burning fossil fuels, the main driver of climate change. Exxon also ran a public relations program — including ads that ran in The New York Times — emphasizing uncertainties in the scientific research on global warming.

Global warming projections “are based on completely unproven climate models, or, more often, on sheer speculation,” Lee Raymond, chief executive of the newly-merged ExxonMobil Corp, said at a company annual meeting in 1999. “We do not now have a sufficient scientific understanding of climate change to make reasonable predictions and/or justify drastic measures,” he wrote in a company brochure the following year.

In a statement Exxon did not address the new study directly but said “those who talk about how ‘Exxon Knew’ are wrong in their conclusions,” referring to a slogan by environmental activists who have accused the company of misleading the public about climate science.

Quite humourous(UK spelling since this is a UK dude), but has a little rough language. Nothing real bad and worth the watch to me.

Agreed. :hi5 The Oxford Union can be a "tough audience" too; they are quite jaded. To leave them speechless is quite an accomplishment.

Wyoming wants to phase out sales of new EVs by 2035.
https://www.engadget.com/wyoming-wants- ... 04042.html

While jurisdictions like California and New York move toward banning the sale of new gasoline-powered cars, one US state wants to go in the opposite direction. Wyoming’s legislature is considering a resolution that calls for a phaseout of new electric vehicle sales by 2035. Introduced on Friday, Senate Joint Resolution 4 has support from members of the state’s House of Representatives and Senate.

In the proposed resolution, a group of lawmakers led by Senator Jim Anderson says Wyoming’s “proud and valued” oil and gas industry has created “countless” jobs and contributed revenue to the state’s coffers. They add that a lack of charging infrastructure within Wyoming would make the widespread use of EVs “impracticable” and that the state would need to build “massive amounts of new power generation” to “sustain the misadventure of electric vehicles.”

SJ4 calls for residents and businesses to limit the sale and purchase of EVs voluntarily, with the goal of phasing them out entirely by 2035. If passed, the resolution would be entirely symbolic. In fact, it’s more about sending a message to EV advocates than banning the vehicles altogether. To that point, the final section of SJ4 calls for Wyoming’s Secretary of State to send President Biden and California Governor Gavin Newsom copies of the resolution.
OK then...

I'm sure Gavin Newsom is going to feel "owned" by the Wyoming State legislature.

Very informative. 1:15 minutes, but a lot of details and facts. He speaks to eh challenge of the hockey stick facts that did not hold up to strong review.

Although the media and some officials were quick to link a series of powerful storms to climate change, researchers interviewed by The Times said they had yet to see evidence of that connection. Instead, the unexpected onslaught of rain and snow after three years of punishing drought appears akin to other major storms that have struck California every decade or more since experts began keeping records in the 1800s.

“We know from climate models that global warming will boost California storms of the future, but we haven’t made that connection with the latest storm systems,” said Alexander Gershunov, a climate scientist at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. “Assuming that these storms were driven by global warming would be like assuming an athlete who breaks a record was on steroids.”

Sure. It is hard or impossible to link long-term climate effects to any one particular storm.

But on the other hand, rainstorms are produced by evaporation over the oceans. If both the atmosphere and oceans are warming, what kind of change would you predict on average? More evaporation or less evaporation?

2023 / Al Gore marches on

Awaken with JP / “Al Gore is Back!” / 1min

2006 Trailer: “An Inconvenient Truth” (2006) Official Trailer #1 - Al Gore Movie HD / 3min

(2012-2019?) PhilValentineShow / “An Inconsistent Truth” / 1hr 30min

Description:
✏️ “An Inconsistent Truth has been rated PG by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA).

This award-winning documentary chronicles the journey of talk show host Phil Valentine in his search to learn the truth about global warming. Along the way Valentine interviews several leading scientists in the field of climate science who disagree with Al Gore's view that we're destroying the planet with carbon dioxide emissions.

Valentine also exposes the money that motivates many who peddle the manmade global warming theory. (2012)

Winner of the Nevada Film Festival and the Anthem Film Festival for best documentary.”

The Valentine video references “hockey stick facts” and (uncharted/unknown) sun science Robert references just above.
Along with lots more.

DR KEN GREEN contributes to the Valentine video, he wrote a middle school textbook, “Global Warming: Understanding the Debate,” which is not easily located, AND, oddly, the title is used by several other authors .. i have no idea what that means. :?
(i presume Ken Green’s textbook is no longer used in gov schools.)

Today’s winning formula is:
1) bypass, or hijack, science, public opinion and the free market,
2) go directly to Congress for legal protections+promotion,
3) gain access to the bottomle$$ pit of the Public Treasury,
4) prevail by force of the sword.
5) voila’ .. $$$$ gov chooses winners+losers.

Competition, merit, worthiness, et al., are so risky, peasant-ish, feeble, who’s got time for that?!
The elite want “a sure thing.” They are not playing around.
