I second this. This is where my wife gets hers now.

An interesting perspective, to be sure, especially in a thread like this. Facetiousness aside, though, I'm curious if your wife ever sincerely asks your opinion or guidance on what to wear to church or other settings, and whether she would honor your wishes if you had some concern regarding her wearing something in particular (assuming you were brave enough to express such to her...)?

She sometimes asks my opinion. But I also know that she puts about 99% more time into thinking about what she is wearing that I do for a lot of obvious reasons. She is the one shopping for her clothes. She has to get up and get dressed in a professional manner every single morning. She is the one with a lifetime of experience from childhood to the present with how people respond to her on a daily basis based on how she is dressed, not me. She is the one with a lifetime of experience talking about clothes and paying attention to them with her female friends and colleagues. And she pays more attention to what other women are wearing than I do. In church, at the clinic and hospitals where she works, in social settings, etc. She is also the one who has spent more time paying attention to what our three daughters wear and the one who shops for clothes for them and with them. She is also a very intelligent and mature adult who does not need help making decisions about what to wear.

We also have evolved different spheres of expertise and influence in our marriage. Some things I take care of, some things she takes care of. How the women in our family dress falls solidly into her sphere of influence and expertise. So yes, I was making a joke but one very much based on experience. We do not attend a church where head covering is the norm. But even if we did I would be loath to tread into that sphere. I am quite confident that it would be something that she would have put a LOT more thought into than me.

Thanks for the advice, friends. My wife ordered some coverings from Garlands of Grace, they have nice stuff. In the meantime she wears a headband with flamingos on it. Not sure it would be acceptable in all conservative circles but I am sure the angels don't mind. ;)

I would think flamingos would make it awfully unstable. Where does one even find flamingos?

I have a fellow coworker that wears a button up shirt with pink flamingos on it for casual Fridays. His wife apparently a flamingo fanatic and got for him as a gift. So he humors her and wears it.

I understand your humor in this. A lot of my customer men refer to their wife as "the boss". That is the way of the world.

When a woman arrives at the understanding of 1 Corinthians 11, her heart is already challenged to bumble itself & recognize the headship order and "value" her head's (husbands) thoughts & opinions while he is submitted to his head's ((Christ) and following this teaching she will learn to value her husband even more. Not from a worldly admiration or need to be told what to do as if she has no intelligence but to recognize that God has placed him over her and in that recognition there is such a peace.
