Hmmmm, 'kibbutzing' (an unknown tongue to me). Do we have an interpreter ? Or was this meant to be kibitzing ?ohio jones wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 1:09 pm I wonder if Ken and Josh love the special attention. Maybe they are capable of handling their own relationship issues without others kibbutzing.

Yeah. Have you ever been to a kibitz? Some of them can be quite interesting in the way they are set up and run. I stayed at one when I was at an archaeological dig years ago.Sudsy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 5:24 pmHmmmm, 'kibbutzing' (an unknown tongue to me). Do we have an interpreter ? Nope, that was a new word for me. I also didn't know you once were one to 'dig heavy rock.'

In this sense, MennoNet is definitely a kibitz...but because of that would not likely ever function as a kibbutz.!ohio jones wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 7:55 pmYeah. Have you ever been to a kibitz? Re: Gender confusion
Saying our interactions are toxic is just a self-victimizing way of saying you don’t like how you feel in our interactions. This makes sense, because I call out your hypocritical dissonant ideology that represents a danger to the young minds you have influence over.
I’m sorry it doesn’t feel good when you get trapped in obvious logical fallacies, but maybe you should reconsider your stance instead of just shouting nonsense?
If that’s too hard, maybe you could go to a forum where people all think like you and then you’d never have to have another “toxic” interaction that make you feel yucky again.
I find it funny that you admitted that you “know the answer” to my original argument. It would have saved a lot of packets instead of prattling on in Latin like a literal child who plugs his ears and screams when he doesn’t like what he’s hearing.

Re: Gender confusion
^^it has been “changing in that direction” over years, decades, and loads of people have been voting in support of it over years. this did not appear out of the blue. do you have any remorse, at all? can you connect the dots?Bootstrap wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 6:01 pm We really can't force other people to use the words we use. When I use the word "man" or "woman", it means precisely what some people want me to call a "cis-gender-man" or "cis-gender-woman". But I would never describe myself that way. That's not my worldview at all. In my worldview, there are men, there are women, there are some people who choose to live as someone of the opposite gender. So I use words that express my worldview.
So if someone explains to me, with exasperation, that I am a "cis-gender-man" and I need to understand that means that my birth gender matches my gender ... I can't change the way they speak to express their worldview. I use words that express mine. They will probably be able to change the dictionaries,
our culture really does seem to be changing in that direction.![]()
But shouting more loudly at them, insulting them more forcefully, that won't do anything to explain our worldview. And if they associate our worldview with hostility, with insults, with toxicity, it's going to make our worldview harder for them to accept.

Re: Gender confusion
No, Temp. I really don't think that I have ever voted to support this. And really, I think voting should be private. I don't promote political candidates, and I don't feel the need to expose my voting record to you or defend my voting record to you in public. In fact, I think it's pretty clear that you would only use it as a line of attack if I did.temporal1 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 6:14 pm^^it has been “changing in that direction” over years, decades, and loads of people have been voting in support of it over years. this did not appear out of the blue. do you have any remorse, at all? can you connect the dots?Bootstrap wrote: ↑Wed Dec 14, 2022 6:01 pm our culture really does seem to be changing in that direction.![]()

I'd rather have a discussion about how we, as Christians, relate to the world around us as we look stranger and stranger to them. Perhaps we share that concern? How do we, as the Kingdom of God, relate to the confused world around us? I think this is the most important way to approach these things, and I'm often baffled that it's so hard to steer discussions in that direction.

Re: The three stages of progressivism
As a cradle Mennonite, an ordained Mennonite pastor, a current school teacher, a forum veteran, a husband and father, an experienced world traveler, are you content with your online forum interactions? Because you are tempted to trolling, maybe use of the Foe option would help you with stumbling blocks?

No intent to be hostile, or even ironic. Just honest questions.temporal1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 11:32 amAs a cradle Mennonite, an ordained Mennonite pastor, a current school teacher, a forum veteran, a husband and father, an experienced world traveler, are you content with your online forum interactions?
