Things that are not part of politics happening presently and how we approach or address it as Anabaptists.

Bootstrap wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 11:31 amSociety around us used to at least pay lip service to biblical sexual ethics. Now society around us has pretty much thrown that overboard. It's not just the political left, though. The political right chose a president that they never would have chosen 10 or 15 years ago, a man who openly bragged about his sexual immorality on The Howard Stern Show, who was featured in Playboy, a poster child of sexual immorality, who said he could teach men how to seduce married women just like he does. If you look at the lives of many celebrated political pundits ...

And....all roads lead back to Trump. As if he the only president who engaged in illicit affairs and dalliances.
If I disappear for weeks at a time, Trump is still a bigger focus than Jesus or the Bible on this forum. The culture war between left and right is still much more prominent than any discussion of the Kingdom versus the world.

Ah, but whenever I mention Trump, I can count on people to jump in like that's my personal obsession.

Perhaps because you know what I say is true? Because it offends you if I point these things out? Because it scores points for the wrong political side? I can't think of any Kingdom of God reason that what I wrote above is off.
Trump is the furthest thing from a moral example I could possibly think of. The only thing I find remotely interesting about Trump is what is says about the US that someone like him could get elected.

All that being said, Trump did not start, nor does he represent the peak of open degeneracy in the Whitehouse.

You are right about the conservative right having sold out. The conservative right seems to now be represented by American flag bikini clad women with breast implants. This does not suddenly make the left morally superior. This just means that the right has caved in one more area to liberalism.

He certainly did not start it.

I suspect he might well represent the peak of open degeneracy in the Whitehouse. Most of the other examples I can think of were hidden, and not on the same scale.

I agree with your first and third sentences. I think the conservative right is a little more diverse than that, but I can think of plenty of examples that feel like your second sentence. There are moral conservatives and conservatives who hate the whole political circus, but they seem to be out of style right now.

Or perhaps to immorality. I think that's the biblical concept that matters here. I don't think conservative=moral or liberal=immoral. There are moral liberals and immoral liberals, moral conservatives and immoral conservatives.

When we trade biblical concepts for political ones, we sell our birthright for a mess of pottage.

As I said elsewhere about Trump… was there any reason to bring him into this Boot?
If I disappear for weeks at a time, Trump is still a bigger focus than Jesus or the Bible on this forum. The culture war between left and right is still much more prominent than any discussion of the Kingdom versus the world. Scripture is not discussed much. There's little wrestling with what it means for us to be Christlike.
Can’t we actually do what you suggested here? Why bring him up yet again? Can’t we actually focus and forget about the latest political bad guy? Are we so moved and controlled by things we give way to much of our mind to?

Agreed. Some were not on the same scale, some were far worse.

If it is nationwide obsession that conservatives and conservative Christians have with the LGBT kids,
it is because the issue is being foisted on society as a whole,
from the radical gay rights movement, the media and all the way up to the president.

sorry, nett.
in my estimation, the misery and scandal levied upon the U.S. from obama’s terms in office, now with biden in his 3rd term in The White House - there is no comparison, they make DJT look like an angel.

all my life i’ve heard of comparisons, Ancient Rome/the U.S., only now do i see CALIGULA in The White House, not in one being,
but the entire Caligula cabal, those elected and appointed (like Rachel L above).

THE LIES.
The public is told, “a tiny minority” - while they are elevated into high office, impacting policy coast-to-coast.
It’s so ugly. 100% intentional, strategic, intolerant. Not amateurs!! Serious business. Dead serious.

Trump is a flawed man. No disagreement.
Compared to THE 1 PARTY OF CAREER POLITICIANS, claiming both parties, he represents a measure of sanity.
It’s bad. Think how bad it must be if DJT is the better choice! That paints a picture. [A picture of Caligula]

It’s true. A feeble old man can be as corrupt+depraved as Caligula. There he is, current POTUS.
Figurehead of the D.C. crime families.

THE world’s dirty money is on them. These guys play for keeps. They’re not messin’ around with “fair.” No way.

i cannot find words to describe how low present career politicians are.
(because they just keep going lower, i guess that stands to reason.)

sorry, nett.
- on this, you’re being ‘way too moderate.

the deal-breaker for me was ‘way back at protection, funding, promotion of for-profit corporate abortion, with taxpayer dollars.
it’s gotten so much worse. adding evils upon evils.

God have mercy.

This was the video i intended to post above: (this clip is shorter+more to the point)

FOISTING: Sept 2022 / “Rachel Levine Pushes Doctors, Pediatricians to Be "Proactive" "Ambassadors" for Trans Ideology” / 3min

Description:
"I believe in our role as truth-tellers.
And the truth that we need to confront now is that medicine and science are being politically perverted around this country
[and that has] destroyed human lives," said Assistant Secretary for Health Rachel Levine to those attending the Pitt Pediatric Grand Rounds seminar in September.

Levine encouraged those listening to become "ambassadors" to advocate for more acceptance of transgender youth and oppose legislation that threatens or discriminates transgender individuals.

Found in Comments:
Dutch 1722 WROTE:
I am intolerant because I believe children should grow healthy skeletons instead of having puberty blockers;
ie androgen deporvation therapy for breast and prostate cancer or for MAPS/Chomos' chemical castration.

Thanks for the motivation to write that Sir.

Unfortunately, only because they are not ideologically consistent. Liberalism is fundamentally immoral.

FWIW, Ben Shapiro is not a Trump fan.
Ben S does not agree with Ken - on any point ..

1 year ago / “DEBUNKED: Transgender Ideology” / 11:33min

Description:
Shapiro reveals the tragic truth behind the transgender movement.

This video begins with Rand Paul/Rachel Levine, includes several sources, he describes some public school policies, gov policies,
he describes JOHN MONEY, 1960’s Johns Hopkins, as instrumental to .. (my words, the organized political bloc) bullying its way today.

John Money, Ph.D.
Dr. John William Money (July 8, 1921–July 7, 2006), internationally known for his work in psychoendocrinology and developmental sexology, defined the concepts of gender role and identity.
His legacy at Kinsey Institute includes the Fellowship for Scholars of Sexology and the John Money Collection.

Really creepy stuff.

in my view .. i believe there are liberals who want to be moral.

i believe they would need to stop voting for liberal politicians UNTIL those politicians would cease+desist from the unholy hells they pridefully promise to represent.

frankly, i don’t see this as either impossible or lengthy.
but voting for evil and pretending you’re not, is not working.

politicians are not mind-readers! they go by votes.
as long as what they’re doing gets votes, they will not stop. why would they?!

example: abortion versus the death penalty.
some are adamantly against the death penalty! yet (they claim passively) vote for abortion, when the death penalty is a tiny number of those who had/have benefit of legal representation .. compared with abortion of the unborn, innocent and without legal counsel or a day in court. it’s hard to defend there is a comparison.

for those who vote, intentionally or passvely for evil, stop.
it wouldn’t take long to be rid of at least some of these travesties.

politicians are dumb.
they believe when people vote for them, they’re voting in support of the policies they’ve outlined.
true. it’s inexplicable how dumb politicians are.
