What she said and liked is ugly and disgusting and ought to have her censured in the House…were it an actual call to assassination though do you not think that she’d be in criminal proceedings right now and wouldn’t Speaker Pelosi refuse to seat her in the House?
Is it just an effect of high emotions, or is there a generalized problem with (reading comprehension)?

(i believe) assassinations are illegal, victims are killed without warning, due process, or representation;
being tried for treason would require full due process and legal representation, “innocent until proven guilty.”
Executions are not always legal, but being tried for treason would be a complex and formal process with every opportunity for the defendent to have effective representation. Death is not the only sentence.

CHAPTER 115—TREASON, SEDITION, AND SUBVERSIVE ACTIVITIES

Other than occasionally hearing her name, i know nothing about MTG.

The point is that people at the top set the tone for discourse. That is the tone that one of the leaders of the Republican party is choosing to set. Which gives license to everyone else to repeat and amplify that sort of language, sentiment, and rhetoric. And then we wind up with crazy people trying give deed to the rhetoric that they find themselves steeped in on social media. And the algorithms of social media do everything they can to amplify it.

I have relatives who have gotten themselves completely lost in the Q-Anon cesspool to the point that no one could reach them anymore. One of my first cousins went deep down that rabbit hole during the pandemic and she ended up dying homeless on the street 2000 miles from home. Even her own sister couldn't reach or help her. And people like MTG are culpable for fomenting it for political gain.

Mental illness and homelessness has absolutely zip-all to do with believing in some random conspiracy theory.

Most people who believe in conspiracy theories live productive lives and aren’t homeless. People who die homeless 2,000 miles away from home on the street have a problem that is not their political opinions.

You know absolutely NOTHING of the circumstances that I described and the reasons for it. But of course that doesn't prevent you from weighing in.

More on political violence from yesterday's closing arguments in the trial of Oath Keeper founder Elmer Rhodes over his role in the 1/6 insurrection.

Again, their own words...

Could have. Could have heard a firing pin drop. But, just as on Jan 6, there was no actual rifle present.

So, you're saying your cousin's death was purely because of the Q anon conspiracy theory and wouldn't have happened without it?

(I think it's a bit strange you decided to drag a deceased relative into a political debate, but you did it - you literally blame people like me and other conservatives who don't believe Democrats are right about everything, for your cousin's death. And I think that's a bit of a problem.)

Er, Ken, is this "violence", or "speech"?

Your side seems to have a lot of trouble distinguishing between the two.

Catch up with the conversation Josh. We are talking about how so much talk of political violence or violent speech ends up leading to actual political violence, especially when less than stable individuals live their lives steeped in it on social media.

Speech does have consequences and violent speech can and does lead to actual violence.
